It Passed

I always knew some form of a health care bill would pass. Today President Obama signed that bill into law. This bill was a series of compromises by the Democrats themselves. So many backroom deals were made in order to make this possible. In the end Democrats even had to make deals with each other to get this done. With some persistence and seldom used maneuvers it passed.

Mayor By Default

Lately I have predicted a comeback of sorts for the Ford family locally in politics. They have been on the down side for the last few years.. Just when you thought it was over. Edmund Ford Jr. is quietly making a homestead in the district his father held before him. Unless his marital status changes with as little attention as it has gained so far. I don't foresee him in a higher post. Unlike the rougher side of the family shown in Issac and Jake, or the lack of interest generated in the congressional race by Joseph Jr. It seemed like the dynasty might be coming to an end.

Then through what could be called trickery. The Fords secured two if not three seats. Joe Ford got to be County Mayor and his son Justin Ford will likely fill his commission seat. Looking at his competition in the Mayor's race, I can see why Joe Ford entered the race after saying he wouldn't. Unless Mark Lutrell can get Democrats to crossover. Joe Ford could be our next County Mayor by default.

Worlds Richest Man

After coming in third place last year, Carlos Slim Helu ranked first in 2009 with a net worth of $53.5 million. See the others on the list. http://www.forbes.com/2010/03/09/worlds-richest-people-slim-gates-buffett-billionaires-2010-intro_slide_3.html
