The Law Is Laid Out, Even For Lesbians

Tk Buchanan (left), Trudy Buchanan and Janine Heiner. Were denied the benefit of a family membership. To the Nuber-East Memphis YMCA, on Quince Ave. this past week.

The longtime attorney for the Y, Mr. Jim Stock. Said the definition of a family for membership has never been challenged, but he didn't sound a conciliatory tone:

"It's a non-discriminatory organization and if people want to consider themselves a family, we'll nurture you and love you and take care of your kids, but we do have the right and probably the obligation of what we consider a family to be."

The Y certainly has that right.

    Hi Commnon,

I'm a christian and I take the biblical stance on this issue. I believe more groups should speak up about antibiblical principles being fashioned into their organizations. Unfortunately, many people of faith are seen as hatemongers for not allowing or agreeing with these groups.

But, as you stated, it is the Y's decision, not theirs, one in which I'm quite sure they're (G&Ls)working hard to change.

Have a blessing of a day!

  2. Hello Jayla,

Good to hear from you. I'm glad you posted on this subject. When I see all the people that read, but don't post. I wonder am I coming across as being to opinionated. If it were left up to me, the definition of a family is clear. Man and Woman married, with children if they have them.

For the record "it's the Y's choice" that's what the Attorney said.

What about single parents? I agree with the YMCA about the homosexuals.

You are not coming off as being to opinionated. Remember all blog surfers do not post. Here is my two cents. I believe the sanctity of marriage should be between man and woman. Jayla is correct about how people are viewed when they disagree on this issue.

  5. Blinders Off,

Thanks for the vote of confidence. It's news whether we like it or not.

  6. Anti-T,

I agree with you, to a degree. In the context of a family, as written in the bible. It is as I said at first. The key elements to a family, are a man and a woman. When they get together sexually, it produces a child. At one time even if briefly. That was your family make-up. The situation you have described. Is man's solution to our worldly ways. If we don't want to stay together, we just part. We don't view things as they really are. Do you know how many wives I have had? Most men I know, have had many. Most women have had several husbands too. Sex is more than just the physical act we've made become. It is supposed to be a lifelong union, like the children it creates.
