Littering Is A Crime

The issue came up the other day, about the drain maintenance fee being added to our utility bills. I wish we didn't have to add anything else, to our light bills either. When you look around and see how some citizens keep house. Something has to be done, and right away. In some places you would think there is no such thing as a garbage can. Since when did people learn the place for used paper and bottles, is on the ground. God forbid we have a serious rain, like they had this year in Hawaii. We would float away in some spots. Without a measure like this, it would be a timebomb. Can you say "Hurricane Katrina"? Don't put off what you can do today, until tomorrow. Tomorrow may never come.

I would support any law enforcement candidate who made this issue a priority. We can no longer afford to focus on those crimes of convenience. Those things where police sit back and wait for the crime to come to them. Things like seatbelts and speeding. Hoping a traffic stop may parlay into something bigger. Well of course they would have to stand for more than that. But that's a good place to start. We already have laws on the books, just enforce them. With all the people we have locked up in jail. And children we have misbehaving in school. Let's get serious about enforcing the law. Let that enforcement include reimbursement. Paying the community back tax dollars spent on you. For unruly children it should be a punishment, for inmates it should be a priviledge. Those that are doing time should welcome the chance I wish someone else would get upset about this as well. I know there has to be, some others like myself. The next thing we're going to have to contract is extermination. With trash comes rodents. Let's start using the undesirable behavior in our society as a means of correcting itself. Since it appears that the two are going to have to coexist. The citizens shouldn't have to pay a drain maintenance fee. Lawbreakers should be sentenced to community service. Community service should be cleaning up the city. Everyone can do that. It doesn't require any special skills. If a couple of people got prosecuted for being nasty. I bet the word would get around fast.

Anti-T,

You are right. I just want to see more involvement . I think the criminal juistice system, is an untapped resource. The public should get more for their money. Just housing them isn't enough. Though the jails are filled to occupancy. Crime is still, at an all time high. I'm also talking about enforcement. Putting those in jail, causing the problem.

Wouldn't that be slave labor?

Anonymous 4:14,

When you commit a crime you give up your rights. Why do we spend so much time, trying to level the playing field for criminals? We should use as much effort trying to stay out of trouble.

I saw somebody walk to the curb today, and put trash in the drain. Earlier today I saw the crews working to clean them out. Before the rain came. We have to do something.
