Lawsuits By Losers
Today I heard the first conflict between the two parties filing lawsuits against the Election commission. One is calling themselves "Coalition For Fair Elections". Seemingly headed by defeated candidate "Shep Wilbun". The other one is headed by Rome Withers and Minister Yahweh. As I listened to the two organizations talk. I couldn't help but think to myself. Initially if one was successful, it would cancel the other one out. Shep Wilbun had already given his acceptance speech to his supporters. Before he was informed that he had lost. It seems he was ready to accept the results of the Diebold at first.
The Election commission did things a little different this time. They didn't reease the results until all the precints were reported. To get an overview of the machine and how it works. The disgruntled losers have found this site to backup their unsupported claims. If a equally unimpressive site was found stating otherwise. These same people would question it's credibility. They would find it redundant and boring. The majority of those complaining about the Diebold voting machines. Couldn't even hook up their own DVD player. Let alone alter a voting machine. The Diebold voting machine has become the scapegoat for everyone that loses a race. Rep. Cynthia McKinney D-GA, has joined forces with the latest lawsuit group. Some of these people were willing to accept the results of this machine earlier. As long as they were winning. Minister Yahweh and Rome Withers, were at least original. They filed their complaints beforehand. They anticipated the Democrats losing. Their bases were covered, which ever way the ball bounced. After getting it past the beginning stages. A lawyer has suddenly taken the case. They have taken it upon themselves to file a $100,000,000 class action lawsuit on behalf of the registered voters. I agree with your assesment, I think you're right. The Diebold has become a scapegoat for losers. They are now trying to get the voters to foot the legal bills. I like your site, it's very informative.
Election commissioners hear about machine woes
At last week's special meeting of the Shelby County Election Commission, Memphis city attorney Elbert Jefferson referred to commission member Shep Wilbun several times over the course of a 20-minute presentation that focused on what he said were irregularities reported by voters using the Diebold touchscreen machines in early voting.
Following the 2006 Shelby County elections, Wilbun and three other candidates for clerks filed a lawsuit that was dismissed when Special Judge Donald P. Harris ruled that allegations of illegal voting and other irregularities were not proven. Wilbun, a former member of the City Council and County Commission, was later appointed by the state to the County Election Commission.
"One of the benefits I hope I see on this commission is that (Wilbun) is on the board and that he doesn't forget about those persons that may similarly be in his position today," Jefferson said.
When Jefferson yielded the floor -- 17minutes later -- Wilbun did not exactly embrace Jefferson's "unbiased" position. In political terms, it sounded very much like a rebuke.
"At that time," he said, "that information was made public and, Mr. Jefferson, I certainly would have appreciated and would have wanted those who were aware that upcoming elections were happening could join me in trying to move that effort forward to get more data and research on that circumstance.
"However, at the time it appeared to be a singular issue and those of us raising that issue were not able to get the support of those others that might have benefited in the future."
Wilbun acknowledged that there could be problems with the machines, but defended the integrity of the process and the steps the commission has been taking.
