Get On The Bus
I should have posted this when it first came to mind, because I don't want it to sound like it's after the fact. I never thought the Herenton camp sought the help of Harold Ford Sr. to get out the vote. He couldn't get it out for his own sons. He's just getting on the bus like several other parasites. Once again he's attempting to pull another last minute desperation move. I don't think it will work this time though. Everyone wants to be with a winner, so the naysayers are quietly admitting their defeat. As far as Harold Ford Sr. supporting the Mayor for reelection. I think it was political posturing on the part of Harold Ford Sr., to keep Willie Herenton's mouth off his family in upcoming elections. The bad blood between them is no secret. At first it was said that he would be one of the rally's featured speakers. Last I heard, that development wasn't going to be happening. Supposedly, word got to him that future campaign donations would dry up for his son if he chooses to run for governor. If that's true, it only proves my point. After the shellacking the Fords have been taking lately. Harold Ford Sr. wants to be on the winning team for a change. He just wants to get on the bus.

This mayor's race has been interesting to watch. Since the election is this week I give my opinions here with you because you usually find a reason to disagree with me and that is the fun of it sometimes.
After everything that publicly transpired since the recall effort and WWH non support for a Ford in 2006, the sudden change in Thad's support for WWH, and making this election about race. Remember just a few short years ago up to the time he decided to run for Mayor he told all Memphians (black and white) they can kiss his a$$ and leave if they did not like the job he was doing. He also publicly admitted when people start complaining about crime, as a mayor he can’t do anything about it.
That is just a few reasons why Herenton will not be getting votes.
Herenton is going to be fine if he loses the election it is the 400 appointed positions who are more worried about their jobs and the companies who benefitted off of contracts. They are definitely his strongest support in this election. If he do not get out the votes of people who normally do not vote in elections he is going to loose? Then again it looks as if Herman and Carol are going to cancel each other out then he wins. This is a crap shoot election it is hard to tell who is going to win, with the over 75,000 early votes it is hard to say. I also believe he is worried because he knows he do not have 100% black vote and no one at this moment knows which way it went until election night.
It is going to be very interesting to see if Herenton pull's this election off. If he was against just one of the other two top candidates Herenton would have definitely lost by a wide margin.
He made a lot of mistakes in the past several years and the campaign he is running is too divisive, if a white candidate ran their campaign with the racial overtone like Herenton is/did with Thad's help, black's in Memphis would have every right to think they were back in the time warp.
If Morris had not entered the race Chumney would have won this race hands down, now I just don’t know. I am going to guess Chumney because she is not being funded by the money. WWH been funded by them for years now he don’t need them. It's rumored Morris is being funded by the money, therefore for Memphians who really want a change they are going with Chumney…she appears to be the logical choice. The People verses The Money
Oh, one more thing I really didn’t think Harold Ford Sr. was going to show up. He didn’t show up to that housing development dedicated and named after him.
Herenton have a strong base and he pulled it off.
Well, like I said it's been interesting to watch, but now it is going to be interesting to see how long former foes who became friends during his campaign will last.
I'm sorry you think I always disagree with you, it's not on purpose. It's just that I seldom change my mind after I write the original post.
