At first I was dead set against her being on the new city council. As it turns out, she may be the winner in district 1 anyway. Considering she is in the run-off. I have to take her chances seriously. I've met her once before and she appears to be a nice enough person. That's the problem though, we don't just need another pretty smile with no weight behind it. I'm getting leery of all these people running for office on the single mother's platform.

I don't think this guy is depending on getting to many of the Black votes in Frayser. I haven't seen any of his yard signs or saw him out in the community. I'm sure the base of his support comes from the Northeastern part of the district. The part receiving the most attention. I'm sure he will be a good representative for those he represents. The question is who exactly that is.
I got some help this weekend, that helped me make up my mind. To have a council candidate personally call me and address my concerns directly. I found both impressive and refreshing. I've gotten used to the impersonal one-way robocalls that come at election time. They don't really tell you anything about the person. The only purpose they serve is to make you remember the candidates name. One of the candidates seem to be depending on low voter turnout to win. I haven't seen or heard anything they have to say yet. They don't appear to be concerned with recognition.I don't think much of someone who wants to lead by default.
ReplyDeleteMs. Gatewood is visible if nothing else. I don't agree with all her positions but she's willing to discuss them. The longest journey begins with one step. Mr. Morrison looks like he's going to sit this one out.The first thing I have against Mr. Morrison is his sponsor and predecessor. I always felt like he didn't equally represent his entire district. He is councilman's E.C. Jones personal pick. Needless to say, I don't want a younger version of him.
