I'm not so sure about this pick for vice president. Only because of personal reasons though. Governor Sarah Palin of Alaska, has been pegged as John McCain's running mate. I wouldn't have picked a woman, but I'm just one vote. I am a hard-core Conservative to the bone. I don't fancy the idea of a woman being second in command. I'm one of the few who still support George Bush. If you looked at the DNC this past week, you could see that the biggest voting bloc in attendance was that of Hillary Clinton supporters. It wasn't my choice, but it was smart. This move wasn't designed to secure the Republican base. He already has them on lock. He won the nomination hands down. Nobody was even close. I think this choice was aimed at the undecided, Independents and the Hillary Clinton supporters. This is definitely an unexpected move by John McCain.
The Evangelical movement was a turn off. The American public is resistant to the rebuking they were administering. The citizens know right from wrong, but they don't want to hear a sermon. The majority of voters don't want same sex marriage, but they don't consider it a deal breaker either. The same with the issue of abortion. Now they can just sit quietly by and hopefully let it take care of itself. Like it has done for the last seven years. With this ticket, marriage is safe, and there will no appointing of judges who will legalize abortion. Any law abiding citizens will still be able to legally buy their guns. She supports the military and doing away with government waste. What's not to like? This lady is more Conservative than John McCain. Plus she looks like Erin Brocavich. Republicans got all their concerns resolved plus a bonus to boot. They locked up a large part of the feminist vote. Sarah Palin is a hammer for the 18 million cracks.
Where we examine both sides of the coin and let the chips fall where they may. It's always heads or tails. You can't honestly decide unless you look at both.

ReplyDeleteSarah Palin is the Governor of Alaska. Till date she is the youngest governor of Alaska and took office at the age of 42. She is also the first woman governor of the state. Another important thing about her is that she is the first governor to be born after Alaska gained statehood. The inauguration of her term took place at Fairbanks instead of the traditional place at Juneau.
Sarah Palin was born Sarah Heath on February 11, 1964 at Sandpoint in Idaho. She is married and her husband, Todd is a commercial fisherman and works in the North Slope. Of her four children, the eldest is a son, Track who joined the army in September, 2007. The other children are Bristol, Piper and Willow. They live in Wasilla, north of Anchorage. Incidentally, Sarah was the former mayor of Wasilla.
Sarah Palin was a sportswoman and a beauty queen in her youth. She played as point guard for Wasilla High School Warriors and in 1982 they won the small school basketball championship. In 1984 she was chosen Miss Wasilla and she later competed in the Miss Alaska pageant and won it. She was played the flute. Sarah Palin made a fruitless attempt at the lieutenant governorship but lost out in a four-way race. Though she was thought to have been a natural nominee for the senate seat after Frank Murkowski vacated it to become the governor, she was not considered as Murkowski nominated his daughter for the job. But Murkowski appointed her a commissioner to the Oil and Gas Conservation Commission and she served it between 2003 and 2004 before resigning in protest against lack of ethics of the other Alaskan Republic leaders. She was also elected for a term on the Valley Hospital board.
Sarah Palin defeated seating governor Frank Murkowski and won the general election for Republican primary for governorship in November 2006. She declared that her administration would primarily focus on the issues of education, public safety and transportation. She has been consistently voted as one of the most popular governors of United States and her latest rating shows 84% approving her.
In the very first steps to improve the states economic health Sarah Palin put on sale the Westwind II jet purchased by the past administration and a 11 mile gravel road to a mine outside Juneau, another last minute approval made by the outgoing administration. In June 2007 she signed the largest ever budget of Alaska at $6.6 billion but simultaneously curtailed the construction budget by about $237 million.
Her seventeen year old daughter is pregnant.
