Forgive But Don't Forget

I'm all for second chances, but let's recognize them for exactly what they are. Making the best of a bad situation. Andre Allen would have had a brighter future without this episode. Let's not give the impression that it's okay to do the wrong thing. That it will be just a temporary delay. Even if it has a happy ending. Every cloud doesn't have a silver lining. For whatever reason you've lost the first opportunity you were afforded. You have yet another chance to redeem yourself. Andre Allen has a chance to play basketball again and still get his college degree. Which I believe will take him a lot farther than his accomplishments on the basketball court. He wasn't the caliber of a Derrick Rose. Except for getting the chance to play in a once in a lifetime game for most college basketball players. He has landed on his feet.

This young man is prone to making untimely mistakes. I believe him not having a father in the home as a child played a role. This isn't the first time he has made negative press. Last time he was arrested for soliciting prostitutes. He has been highlighted for trouble more than he has good games. Though he has never been a marquis player. He has always been a crowd favorite. The general consensus among the fans is they are wishing him well. That's the problem though. I'm not so sure this young man has learned his lesson yet. If history repeats itself. The fans might be a little too forgiving.
