I'm Not Impressed

At first I couldn't figure out why County Commissioner Steve Mulroy would appear on a radio show in the city that probably none of his constituents would even hear. Then it suddenly made perfect sense. His goal wasn't to reach the people that were already in agreement with him. He is inconspicuously testing the waters before his proposed sexual discrimination legislation comes down to a city council vote. Ultimately his goal is to enact this legislation all across the city. His intent is to get the unsuspectimg, uninformed voters on his side beforehand. Then he can slide it in under their noses. I'm pretty sure this is an uphill battle already with the county commission being almost equally split down party and racial lines.

I learned today the commissioner was a civil rights lawyer in the past. We have several lawyers on the two boards. So I've gotten used to the double talk. Commissioner Mulroy made the comment that he didn't want to go on Mike Flemmings or Ben Ferguson's show. I can see why. Them or their audience wouldn't give him a pass. Me for one, I'm not impressed.

  1. This initiative is upon us already. Not quite three weeks ago Steve Mulroy was on the radio assuring us there was nothing to worry about. We live in a right to work state so any legislation protecting one particular group is unfair.
