Far From The Worst

Mr Forbes must have not gotten the memo that leadership has changed in Memphis. The prior complaints of crime had more to do with the disapproval of Willie Herenton than it did actual crime statistics. Memphis was taking on the numbers for the whole tri-state area. Suddenly Memphians are speaking out about the unfair tag our fair city has been given. The media and some disgruntled citizens have been falsely categorizing this city as a haven for crime for several years now. No doubt we have a serious crime problem, but anyone who thinks we are among the most dangerous are either naive or dishonest. How can you compare Memphis to cities like Chicago, Los Angeles and Philadelphia?

This is much like the consolidation issue. You have to clear the air of all the misinformation being disseminated before the people can grasp the truth Myron Lowery described it best. "Opposition based on Apathy". Memphis is not the best city in the country, but it's far from the worst.
