I hear this has been a particularly hard year for J Blacfoot and his family already. The wife, the son and now J. Blackfoot himself has died. The music world has loss a great one.
He was a trooper who loved to practice his craft. One would imagine he wouldn't have been feeling too good lately. Obviously that didn't stop him though. He did a show just this past weekend in West Memphis. I heard he sounded just as good as he always has.
Rip Jay Blackfoot..u r truly a legend..Your wife and your son Bo greeted you as u entered into paradise.you will be dearly missed..

ReplyDeleteThe funeral is this weekend and they still don't have a church. At first it was supposed to be at Greater Community Temple on Winchester and now they've moved to Christ Missionairy Baptist Church on Parkway. Only thing is Christ Missionairy says they know nothing about it. This indicates two things. 1. He didn't have a church home. 2. The money for a large venue isn't there.
ReplyDeleteToday they finally had the memorial/funeral service for J. Blackfoot. It was vey nice and came off with no problems. At least none that were due to lack of planning. As usual some one takes too long withthe remarks and somebody messes up a song.
ReplyDeleteI figured out what the hold-up probably was. Most pastors with large churches won't allow another preacher to give a eulogy at their church. Pastor Gina Stewart was noticeably absent from the proceedings. J. Blackfoot was a member of Bethlehem church and Rev.O.C. Collins Jr. was his pastor. His church wasn't big enough to accomodate the crowd. So they had to find a bigger venue. The rainbow over the baptismal pool was appropriate. Feelings were set aside for puposes of compensation and promotion.
First of all before you make a comment on hear get your facts straight. Dont worry about whether or not my uncle got paid and he did have a church home and there was a lot of planning done. My cousin did an excellent job on the services and she took care of business. So stop all the lit remarks about this, because the services was on point!!!!!!
