Those who fought against him, mainly have themselves to thank for his confirmation. He wasn't the first or second choice, for this appointment. In unexpected turn of events. There has been the only activity since 1994, under President George W. Bush. The first choice would have been John Roberts, who now is Chief Justice. Due to the death of William Rehnquist. John Roberts was then recommended, for the chief position. Leaving the original appointment open. It was then offered to Harriet Mier, White House counsel. Under conservative scrutiny, she refused the nomination. I think she represented the last compromise candidate for the liberals. I don't know if I personally agree, with all of Alitos decisions. I don't think there's anyone that would fill that bill. I trust the presidents judgement, I think Justice Alito will be fair. It's really an exercise in futility to oppose what's written in stone. We must pray for his decisions, he's already there.
