Janis Is A No-Show

Once again Janis Fullilove has left the people of Memphis hanging. Thinking they might get a chance to ask some burning questions, or have some answered by the subject herself. I'm sure a lot of people have been listening to WDIA for the last couple of days, expecting her to sit in for host Bev Johnson. She is out on vacation this week. Giving Janis the chance to sit in at one of the most listened to shows in Memphis. I know they won't, but Janis's supporters should feel a little betrayed by her actions. Yesterday she supposedly had an unexpected doctor's appointment. Which was due to the wreck she was in a couple of weeks ago. That absence was acceptable considering her latest circumstances. What was her excuse today though?

This isn't the first time she has did this. I didn't really hold it against her for not showing up at the radio show "Realtalk." Nobody was really listening anyway. That wasn't the case the past two days though. I'm almost sure she was avoiding the heat. This isn't a planned press conference with press secretaries and the Mayor present. She has to answer unprepared questions straight from the cuff. The producer of the program can't protect her from unscripted callers. She would be out there on her own. I think we have heard the last of Janis for a while. Especially in a one on one setting. When it gets hot in the kitchen. Janis is a no-show.

THP questions Fullilove about duplicate license

City councilwoman Janis Fullilove has been interviewed by Tennessee Highway patrol investigators for possibly falsifying information on a driver's license application.

THP spokesman Mike Browning said investigators talked to Fullilove on Tuesday and are looking into whether she broke the law when she applied for a duplicate license after hers was confiscated when she refused a DUI test in DeSoto County.

Fullilove did not mention the DUI charge when she applied for the duplicate, saying instead that she had lost her original.

Browning said the investigation is ongoing and that it would be turned over to Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Bill Gibbons when it is complete.

Fullilove could face up to 11 months and 29 days in jail, fines up to $2,500 and license suspension for up to two years.

DeSoto County deputies seized Fullilove's license March 21 when she refused a blood-alcohol test after officials pulled her over. She spent five hours in jail in DeSoto County.

Mississippi law says failure to submit to the test results in a license suspension of 90 days for a first offense. The license will be suspended even if the suspect is later found not guilty. Any driver failing to submit to a requested test is charged with DUI.

Fullilove was driving again May 2 when she was involved in a late-night car crash in Tunica County that injured a girl in the other car. Fullilove said she had been gambling at Fitzgerald's casino in Tunica. Fullilove will not be charged in that crash. Mississippi Highway Patrol officials said they had no reason to ask her to take a DUI test that night or take her blood at the hospital.

Fullilove pleaded guilty in 1999 to drunken driving along a popular route to and from Tunica after being pulled over by police responding to a call from a concerned motorist.

Fullilove, elected in October 2007 as one of three council members representing Super District 8, said recently that she will be seeking therapy for an undisclosed medical problem. She said she did not have drinking or gambling problems.

Janice Fullilove has been needing rehabilitation for years now. She used to be on FM100 and I was listening on the day she had a drunken diatribe breakdown ON THE AIR. Needless to say, she was fired. She left WDIA or WLOK and skipped her inebriated tail over to FM100 like that was going to make things better. A lot of people criticized her for going to a white station.WDIA or WLOK was probably happy to be rid of her. She's in denial and there's nothing that can be done other than give her the "Tamara Ford" treatment. Lock her up for a couple of years and let her dry out.
