Redefining The Republican Party
I think it's rather hypocritical for Democrats to be trying to carry the banner for family values and job experience now. Just last week they expected us to vote for a inexperienced, same sex-marriage supporting, baby killer. Now they're trying to persecute this woman because her seventeen year old daughter is pregnant. Before now they have shown a poor example themselves. Just the other day a Democratic Mayor of a major metropolitan city resigned from office. Due to things he himself had done. I find it strange, no one is talking about that. But they blame this woman for the actions of her teenage daughter.Barack Obama has been in the Senate for twenty-two months and he has been running for President, eighteen of them. His meteoric rise is nothing short of miraculous. His supporters would have you think. He has a long and established track record. Aside from those one hundred and thirty times he voted present. The few times he did vote. It was in agreement with the party over a controversial issue. Like not informing parents about their minor daughter getting an abortion. He's the most liberal Senator on the hill. For those who talk about the number of people she has governed. She got more votes running for Mayor of Wasilla, Ak., than Joe Biden did running for the President of the United States. She is also the only one in the running with executive experience. She was Governor of Alaska.
I finally figured out why the Democrats are so upset. They shouldn't care who John McCain picks as his running mate. If he made a bad choice, that makes it better for them. That''s not the case though. Sarah Palen is redefining the Republican party as we know it. They have always said the Republicans are the party of rich white men. Here is a young lady with many of the same issues as people in middle America. Yet she is still staunch in her Conservative views. She has a son enlisted in the Army. A teenage daughter who is pregnant, and a union worker for a husband who's layed-off right now. If that's not enough she has a handicapped child. All or one of which make her relate to the majority of women in this country. What more does it take to make her mainstream?

The Daily Kos is one of the most liberal blogs in existence. I'm not surprised they would print something as biased as this. Anybody who who posts this as a source, obviously is just grasping for straws. Since nothing in the article is correct. This is obviously an opinion piece.

Promoting and upholding are two different things. When she gives her daughter a baby shower. Then I'll have a problem with her. Seventy percent of all newborn babies are born out of wedlock. That's a heckuva lot more than just Sarah Palin.
I watched the movie the other night called "Imitation Of Life." The mother of the girl in the movie wasn't responsible for her daughters activity. She ran away and became a stripper. Her mother did the best she could. I know somebody is going to say it isn't the same, but it's exactly the same. You have never been able to control the actions of an able bodied seventeen year old.
Your conversation with the Republicans best illustrates why you should vote based on what you know. Voters are like sheep. You are a sheep dog. While the rest of the herd is headed over the cliff. You should be barking to turn them back.
I wasn't excited about John McCain picking Sarah Palin either, but he already had my vote. If you were really going to vote for him. His selection of her shouldn't change anything. Winning should be his main priority now. For this she was the best choice.
Almost doesn't count. As long as he doesn't get in office and do exactly the opposite of what he says, he'll be fine. Everything requires an up and down vote.All members don't agree. As long as same-sex marriage doesn't become legal. Our elected officials are doing their job.
How one views the sanctity of life, tells you alot about them. This issue essentially divides the right from the left. I'm not excited about either one. I just know where I stand. Claiming to be a swing voter is a safety net. There are clear and distinct differences in the party. "If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything."

Last time I checked, most responsible parents don’t condone teenage drinking – especially in high school. And by the way, Bristol Palin WILL have a shower – but it will be very private. So will the wedding – if Levi goes through with it. I have a feeling, however, that this marriage won’t last too long when you consider the circumstances.
Nice try, but being a swing voter is not a safety net. A safety net is voting one particular way no matter what happens or who's running. My conscience is not seared with a hot iron; I have the testicular fortitude to scrutinize politicians instead of blindly voting (D) or (R). Also, if you look hard enough, you will find all kinds of groups that branch off of the mainstream of each party, so the "clear and distinct differences" aren't necessarily that clear. If everyone voted for just one party, we wouldn’t be a democracy. If we all thought the same way, we'd be socialists. Who do you think McCain and Obama are pandering for? It isn’t you; it’s me. People like me decide elections. They know you’re a safe vote, but each have to work to persuade for the rest of us.
Yes, there are still good people in politics, but they are not all of one race, one party, or one mindset. Just because someone claims to be a Christian, says the right things, and votes a certain way doesn’t make them genuine. There are enough politicians (not to mention preachers and pastors) that have fallen to debunk that theory. Even under the best of circumstances, we don’t know everything a politician does in private.
Until the White House and Congress start practicing pragmatism, nothing will ever be accomplished – no matter who is elected. Americans are tired of partisan grandstanding.

If she does have one we won't know anything about it,so I'm betting she won't. Regardless what you say. She isn't endorsing teenage pregnancy. As for the marriage, nothing beats a failure but a try.
I only vote one way. The right way.I call myself an Independent, but the candidates I support always happen to be Republican. There are a lot of other groups but they aren't in the running. So let's deal with the choices we have.
The more you talk the more you sound like an Obama supporter. For someone who was originally going to vote for John McCain. You're trying awfully hard to discredit Sarah Palin. I think you're an another Obama supporter who is scared of her.

We had six years of a GOP controlled Washington and all they did was create fake political drama. No real votes on gay marriage, abortion or any other conservative issue, just lip service. Like the Democrats before them in 1994, they got drunk from their own power. Then the past two years Washington has been playing tug-o-war because the Democrats don’t have enough votes in the Senate to stop a filibuster, but enough to torment Bush.

You haven't asked amy questions that haven't been answered. All you have done is offered links to someone elses's opinions. That I don't agree with any more than I do you.
The reason these issues probably haven't been and will probably never be solved. Is because that would be like political suicide. That's what they use every four years to motivate the voters. These are the primary issues that divide the right from the left.
You seem to already have made up your mind. So you aren't interested in my opinion. If you support raising taxes, same-sex marriage and abortion. We will never agree. Vote for the Democratic candidate.
All I have done is provide information to back up my claims. If I had answered you without links, you'd say I was making it up or basing it on my own opinion. I was only showing that I am not alone in my views.
I answered the questions you posed: (1) why people were critical of Gov. Palin and (2) if she was refining the Republican Party. She is nothing but a way for McCain to get more votes and everyone knows this. If he wanted to choose a woman and remain credible, he should have chosen Carly Fiorina (despite her controversial departure from HP). Fiorina may have turned McCain down, but she is good!!!
Your mind is the one that has been made up from the beginning. I don't go around saying I'm right 98 percent of the time :-) You think the Republican Party is the party of God and that anyone with a different opinion is heathen. It's just like Gov. Palin's former pastor, Ed Kalnins, who said anyone who disagreed with President Bush on ANYTHING would go to hell. Even conservatives have taken him to task about that nonsense. Last time I checked my Bible, presidential elections were not a spiritual issue, nor are they discussed in the Bible.
You can vote for either candidate and get higher taxes, same-sex marriage, and abortion. There isn't enough money to pay for either McCain or Obama's plans and they both know it; they're just trying to get votes.
Another thing -- no matter who wins, our country will continue to be financed by communists (China).
It seems each party has there true hard core belivers. Democrats have the majority of the minority vote I assume due to there take from the rich and give to the poor mentality and Government programs. Republicans have the majority evangelical vote due to their stance on abortion.
I dont really know where I stnad in the mix, probably more of a Moderate Independent who leans twoards the Republican side.
Alot of what matters to me is the character of the person and how I precieve them to be. I can't base my decision solely on their promised programs and speeches because half are lies or mis-truths and about a 1/4 of what is left wont make it out of Congress.
Both parties are guilty of pandering and the politics of fear, it all comes down to the lesser of two evils

Anonymous 10:59 has only said what I've only been pointing out all along -- that both parties are using certain groups of people and none of the promises will come true. As I said before, I think Republicans should stop complaining about Democrats using Black people when they take advantage of people's Christian beliefs. Before they can make that claim, they too must make some changes. Both parties need to stop finger pointing; the majority of Americans are sick of the partisan bickering. I do believe if we all work together as Americans, we could solve a lot of problems. Unfortunately, we have people on both sides who care more about getting all of the credit instead of working together.
Yes, I believe John McCain's pick of Gov. Palin was solely to pander to conservatives and women, not because he thought she was the most qualified for the position. Now suddenly everything is sexist. When Hillary started crying in New Hampshire, everyone -- including Palin supporters -- told her to grow a pair. Now that Palin's in the race, there's a sudden concern about women.
Earthquake or no earthquake, China still is financing a significant portion of our country's debt; they can afford to. That's why the feds stepped in to bail out Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae; a lot of China's money is tied up in both.

As far as Isogesis goes, that's another accusation you can't prove. Why don't you move on to another story. You're wasting time here.
1. No one is trying to prove you wrong; if anything, you are acting defensive and frustrated. You said on your blog that you examine both sides of the coin -- I'm simply pointing out an independent, moderate view.
2. Conservatives, especially Black conservatives, criticize Democrats for using the Black community on a regular basis. They do this despite the fact that the Republican Party has failed to deal with the social issues that they campaign on. Except for a ceremonial vote on partial-birth abortion, the issue was put on the back burner. The right to life amendment went nowhere. The marriage amendment failed.
3. The Democratic base did get the candidate they wanted -- Obama. Remember, he is the one with the most liberal record. They didn't want HRC because she voted for the war in Iraq. And as I pointed out earlier, HRC carries political baggage that many didn't want -- the GOP would have had a field day. And of course, we have the faction who don't want a Black president from either party. The women who are going with McCain just because he picked a woman are participating in identity politics. Black people do the exact same thing when they vote for a person just because (s)he's Black. As for the 18 million -- don't forget in many states, including Tennessee, there are open primaries, so people can vote in either primary despite their party preference. Not everyone who voted for HRC is actually for her.
4. You said I didn't like you because you were a conservative. I only pointed out that you wrote about how people attack you about it, like criticizing your writing skills. I was making clear that I've never done anything like that to you.
5. The Bible has always warned us about putting worldly things before God. God expects me to have faith in Him, not in man, nor a political party made up of men. Believers can make more of an impact preaching and teaching the Gospel than expecting politicians to do the work for us.

We are one in ten in America. If they made it illegal, that would only make more of us breakers of the law.
3. If they got the one they want they should stop complaining about Sarah Palin and anything else that works in the Republicans favor. They should also stop entertaining the idea of dropping Joe Biden and picking up Hillary.
