Better Late Than Never

I always say "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." I wish Harold Collins and Janis Fullilove had the foresight to vote on behalf of the citizens of Memphis in the beginning instead of being participants in a racial coup staged by black city council members. Now they are both suffering the wrath of some disgruntled constituents as a result of their initial actions.

Councilman Collins is taking the majority of the heat on this one. Councilwoman Janis Fullilove has been relatively quiet since casting her controversial vote. She might try and ride this thing out and hope the voters do like they usually do and forget. I wasn't as surprised at her siding with the others in the beginning as I was Mr. Collins. She has a history of second chances with her supporters. So "When you're living in a glass house, don't throw no stones."

In my opinion this whole thing is about six to eight weeks too late. My main concern has always been police protection. If we can't find them here we need to go elsewhere. We didn't need an ad-hoc committee to analyze the situation. I made this same suggestion when the issue first came up. Even though it's been delayed somewhat. It's better late than never.
