Lock Up The Lukewarm Vote

Choosing Senator Biden is supposed to counter the experience factor that John McCain has over Barack Obama. In my humble opinion, I don't think it's going to work. Joe Biden initially supported the war in Iraq, but later changed his mind. He is a Catholic that supports abortion. I'm sure that doesn't go over with the other Catholics to well. One thing that we should remember is this. The people don't choose the Vice President, they choose his running mate. Joe Biden souight the Democratic nomination himself. When the smoke cleared he wasn't even in the top three. If the people had wanted him in the White House. They would have gave him the nomination. I bet this wasn't Obama 's first or even second choice. Joe Biden probably didn't expect to end up here either.

This move was designed to attract a certain type of voter on the sly. None of which Barack's people will admit he needs in order to win. It's going to take more than young impressionable college students, and those who teach them to win this race. It's going to take the support of those Blue Collar workers "who rely on God and guns." If I recall correctly what Mr. Obama said. Not to mention that group of outspoken women who supported Hillary Clinton. Who incidentally in large numbers have vowed not to support him anyway. Both of which make up considerable voting blocs. This is designed to pull those straddle of the fence Catholics who believe in divorce. And those who think Joe Biden will really be running the show. The results of this race will be hot or cold. He only helps lock up the lukewarm vote.

Obama brought in Biden for his Foreign Policy Experience and becasue he knows Washington, he's been tha Senator since he was 29. He will also be used as an attack dog on McCain and in all likelyhood will be better at the Vice Presedential debates.

Biden was probably the best pick for him but will have problems. He was a major player in the bankruptcy bill Obama opposed, sdaid it himself that McCain would be a better president and that Obama didnt have the experience.
What about his coomment earlier of how Obama talks and carry's himself well for a black man.

Obama wants us to belive he will bring a change to Washington but he brings in a Washington insider. Do you really think Biden will change his mindset after being a Senator for 6-7 terms?

Obama aims at blue-collars
Clinton camp raps McCain ad

DENVER -- On the eve of the Democratic National Convention, Barack Obama said Sunday he hoped a week of political speechmaking would persuade reluctant middle-class voters to swing behind his bid for the White House, while Republicans sought to stir discontent among Hillary Rodham Clinton's supporters.

Clinton was having none of it. Obama's rival in a bruising battle for the nomination was expected to release her delegates at midweek in a unity gesture.

Obama, bidding to become the first black president, campaigned through swing-state Wisconsin, then flew home to Chicago to work on the acceptance speech he will deliver before 75,000 partisans on the convention's closing night.

Previewing the week ahead, he said he hoped convention viewers would conclude, "He's sort of like us. He comes from a middle-class background, went to school on scholarships. He and his wife had to figure out child care and how to start a college fund for their kids.''

Clinton outpolled Obama among working-class voters in many states through the winter and spring, and Sen. John McCain and the Republicans have worked relentlessly in more recent weeks to depict the Illinois senator as an elitist who is out of touch with blue-collar concerns.

If Democratic unity was uppermost in the minds of Obama's aides going into the convention, McCain had other ideas.

The Republican presidential contender's campaign readied a television commercial -- there was no evidence it had been broadcast -- suggesting Obama had snubbed Clinton when he picked Delaware Sen. Joseph Biden as his vice presidential running mate.

"She won millions of votes but isn't on the ticket. Why? For speaking the truth," says the ad.

The former first lady has praised Biden's selection.

In response to the ad, spokeswoman Kathleen Strand noted that Clinton "has said repeatedly that Barack Obama and she share a commitment to changing the direction of the country, getting us out of Iraq and expanding access to health care. John McCain doesn't. It's interesting how those remarks didn't make it into his ad."

It would help if Sen. Biden could remember Obama's name.

Joe Biden did an excellent job with his acceptance speech. He raised the bar for Barack Obama tommorow. His experience with speaking before a crowd came through. He has been making speeches for thirty years.

Hillary Clinton would have been the best pick as far as numbers go. But Biden is a better fit.Hillary and Obama cancel each other out.
