A Lady To Late
On last evening Michelle Obama did a real fine job in her keynote speech. The only bad thing about it, was the timing was wrong. Her mouth has got her in trouble already. She should have made the same speech when she talked to the Wisconsin caucus. Every since she made the comment about
‘For the First Time in My Adult Lifetime, I Am Really Proud of My Country.’ Her name and face have been to her husband's campaign like cryptonite is to "Superman." They tried to keep her out of the public eye, until hopefully Americans forgot. Based on the comments I've heard today. The people haven't forgotten it yet. People on the Obama bandwagon are already convinced. They don't have to say or do anything to win them over. As eloquent as she spoke on last evening. I don't think she did much to win over those on the other side. She sounded like the first lady last night. But was she a lady too late?

Common,
To ask if she is it too late to be a lady is offensive. There are people who will never like Michelle Obama because she is the epitome of a strong black woman, mother, daughter, sister, and wife. She did not say, “For the first time in my adult life I am proud to be an American”. Her exact quote was, “The first time in my adult life I am REALLY proud to be an American”. There was nothing unpatriotic about that statement, as conservatives would like people to believe.
Furthermore, as a black person rather you are a republican, democrat, or an independent we should be the last ones not to understand what she meant and how she felt at the time, she made that statement. I know for the first time in my adult life I am REALLY proud to be an American during this election process because there are Caucasians voting for a black man to possibly become POTUS.
The Obama’s are under a microscope and every little thing they say or do will be dissected, I am surprise the rightwing talk shows did not pounce on her daughters when they showed their excitement of seeing their Dad last night on the teleprompter.
Last night was a chance for the world to see how many Blacks actually live their life in America. The media has portrayed Blacks in a negative light for years, and I am REALLY proud that America has the opportunity to see the Obama family because they represent how many Black's in America live their life in this country.
Faux News and other conservative talk shows are experts in slicing and dicing what a person said. Did you here the entire speech the day she said, “She is REALLY proud to be an American?” If not here is a link http://www.breitbart.tv/html/49244.html
Blinders Off,
How are you doing? Nice picture, now I know how you look. Now to your letter. Because I'm sure you're not going to like what I have to say.
I really am not conncerned with whether or not it is offensive to her or not. She is a candidate's wife. Which makes her a target just like anyone else. She is just like my wife amd mother, and several other women I know. Their husbands just didn't run for president. Like I said, she should've kept her mouth shut. That's just like the word "really." It doesn't change the meaning of what I said. You get my drift.
I understand she was talking smack. I know a lot of other high profile blacks that put their foot in their mouth. You should have been proud to be an American, long before you ever heard of the Obama's. You didn't even know who they were two years ago.
Since they are under the microscope, they ought to watch what they say. Michael Steele said it best to Tavis Smiley. I'm happy that a black man is running for president, but I don't support this one. Louis Farrakahn is black, but I wouldn't vote for him for POTUS.
They are trying to appeal to the conservative voters. He isn't after the black vote. What have they done to seek your support? Since when do Democrats talk about things like family values and personal responsibility? That's a Conservative platform. Unless you're a RINO.
I heard the interview. I posted the link. I also went back and added the word "really" to my post, as if it made a difference. If this is offensive, she's in for a long ride. You are a Barack supporter and you've drank the Kool-Aid. A lot of people like myself drink Coke, or at least another flavor.
She said she was proud of her country not to be an American. You provide the link and still got it wrong. What about when she said America was a mean country.
I dont dislike Michelle Obama but I really dont care for her either, nor do i care for Obama due to his politics.
What a candidate, candidates spouse or people from there own party say during a convention speech I take with a grain of salt.
Becasue someone gives a good speech that a team of speech writers provides them means zero.
What matters to me is there actions and IMHO Obama is lacking.
What I ahve noticed is that as long as he is scripted and has a teleprompter around he's fine, take those elements away and he's a blabbering politican who is the same as all the other politicians.
Common,
I am well and I see you are on a roll with Commontaries, by the way I did not know you were into music. I like your playlist.
Now to your response:
Because I'm sure you're not going to like what I have to say.
Well, you know I do not agree with you all the time, but if everyone agreed with each other this would be a boring world :)
I really am not concerned with whether or not it is offensive to her or not. She is a candidate's wife. Which makes her a target just like anyone else.
I know you do not care about offending because you have proven over the years you stand by your convictions, as virtual friend I know not to try to change your mind on anything you post on your blog. That is why in my opinion Cindy McCain fits the title of your post "A Lady to Late"
I'm happy that a black man is running for president, but I don't support this one. Louis Farrakahn is black, but I wouldn't vote for him for POTUS.
I am happy of the possibility a black man could be POTUS, but did I support him in the beginning of the presidential debates, NO. Is he now my choice between the two candidates seeking to be POTUS, YES? Please do not insult my intelligence with the Louis Farrakhan remark...I DO NOT BLINDLY cast my vote based on a person skin color.
Since when do Democrats talk about things like family values and personal responsibility? That's a Conservative platform. Unless you're a RINO.
This is laughable...Do you honestly believe conservatives are the only people who believe in family values and personal responsibility?
If this is offensive, she's in for a long ride.
Conservatives are throwing everything at Michelle and she is handling it like a lady. She can also fight her own battles. It has been awhile since I posted on your site; and what better way to make my presence known again than to let you know I was OFFENDED by the title of your post "A Lady to Late" IMO, she has always behaved like a lady.
You are a Barack supporter and you've drank the Kool-Aid. A lot of people like myself drink Coke, or at least another flavor.
I do not drink Kool-Aid Common, if you must know I am a Pepsi drinker. As I said previous Barack was not my first choice, but now that it is down between him and McCain. I will take my chances with Barack.
Oh, I almost forgot to address this one:
You should have been proud to be an American, long before you ever heard of the Obama's.
I NEVER SAID I was NOT proud to be an American and I damn sure did not need the Obama's to hit the seen to realize how wonderful it is to be an American. Yes, I am REALLY proud to be an American more so now because of the progressive direction America is heading. If no one understands the meaning behind that and wants to take it as unpatriotic...that is their prerogative.
Finally, Common you are assuming I am a Democrat. IMO, die hard Democrats and Republicans are a pain in the @ss. I truly do not care about either party; I only care about getting this country back on track. To do that this partisan BS need to END.
Until next time :)
Conventions are largely informercials anyway; the GOP Convention won't be any better. It will be just as scripted and filled with talking points as this one. McCain isn't any more inspiring than Obama, IMHO.
I agree, the conventions are full of blow hards who are tooting there own horns and stroking there own ego's.
If all we did was take out clue from campaign speeches then both candidates are in sad shape.
I wonder if Obama knows how many states there are now, previously he thought there were 58.
Anonymous 12:11,
There you go, making much adeiu about nothing. But to be absolutely correct I posted exactly what she said.
While I was writing the post to comment to Blinder you must have been doing the same. After I posted I saw yours, so mine was in response to Blinders.
blinders off,
Glad you like the playlist. I hope it isn't distracting. It makes my writing time more enjoyable.
I don't purposely mean to be offensive. It's just that I don't think I was. But if I was she needs to grow some thick skin.
I'm not naieve enough to think either party is perfect. We can't control what other people do, but we contol our own actions. We all fall short but we still need to be trying.
My main point is this. Don't expect the world to give her a free pass because she is black. The same scrutiny the other candidate's wives face. She will face as well.
Based on what you say. You are an independent voter like myself, without the Conservative leanings.
