Gingrich Has A Gameplan

Last night I watched the "Greta Van Susteren Show", where former house speaker Newt Gingrich was a featured guest. For the first time since this economic emergency arose. Newt Gingrich offered the first nuts and bolts plan that I've heard since this whole thing started. With my limited knowledge on these matters, it sounded pretty good to me. Unlike some politicians and other taxpayers I'm not pretending I've got this whole thing figured out. In spite of what those Obamaniacs tell you, and supporters of John McCain. Neither one of them really had a plan.

Newt Gingrich had a plan that doesn't require any more money or new legislation to make a difference. He suggested repealing the Sarbanes-Oxley bill and changing the country's "money to market" accounting principles. Eliminate the capital gains tax, and pass a strong energy bill. The first two which would essentially cut this whole bailout problem in half at least. If that doesn't work it will buy us time and won't cost anything. Obviously some other members of congress saw the interview as well. I heard the bill is closer to getting the desired number of votes. Now that some of those issues have been addressed.

Our local Democratic congressman couldn't wait to suggest it to local voters as his idea. Barack Obama has been relatively quiet since the debate Friday night. We better watch him closely, he might try to vote present for fear of defending his position. John McCain has made a difference no matter how small. Had it not been for his involvement. The process would have moved even slower than it is now. Last Days In Jail

I can't foresee the future but I can safely say John Ford will spend more of his last days in jail than out. Unless by chance he lives to be at least 102 yrs. old. Today a judge sentenced him to fourteen years behind bars that begin after the five he's already serving. I have heard of stranger things happening though. By some strange twist he could end up free. Unless a few years from now someone tells me they saw him in jail. I'll mjust wait and see. This guy extorted about a million dollars that we know about. John Ford wasn't new to the game. Based on his own words he "was the deal maker." I'm sure there are several more million we don't know about. During his time he lived high on the hog. From custom made suits to prison jumpers. He will spend his last days in jail.

No Deal, No Doubt

The long awaited verdict has hit the airwaves. The $700 billion bailout was rejected. Democrats are scrambling around trying to blame Republicans for the failure of the bill. But that was largely the wishes of the constituents back home. So much for the longstanding theory that this was a Republican bailout of big businesses. Even though Democrats seemed to endorse it for the most part, the final vote was 228-205. The Democrats had 235 votes overall, while the Republicans had only 198. One person didn't vote. I don't know who that was. If Nancy Pelosi had been able to rally the troops. Once again she has failed to mobilize the party for a united front. If she had done what a majority leader is supposed to do. We might be looking at another outcome here. Now we can hear why the people in congress did or didn't give it their support.

Look It Up For Yourself

The silver fox has done it again. As I predicted this is where he would shine. National security is John McCain's strong suit and he proved it last night. To make sure I didn't miss anything important. I almost watched the whole thing twice. It was like watching a college level team play against the pros. The college team might be good enough to win a game. But the pros are still on another level. They got where they are now, based on excelling when they were in school. Barack Obama has a bright future in politics, but he isn't ready to be President yet.
After the debate political analysts and pondents were getting paid to pick out one key or memorable sound byte made by either of the candidates. Barack Obama asked the moderator to " move it along," when he was obviously at a loss for words. Nobody talked about that, or that Bin Laden hadn't been "kilt." The one comment that stuck in my mind was made by Senator McCain. "It's hard to reach across the isle from that far on the left." As the campaign goes on Barack is drifting closer and closer to the middle. Though it's not reflected in his voting record. In a debate he can't structure his answers to suit the crowd. Nothing beats an idea but an experience. That's what makes these two fundamentally different. One campaign is built on promises. The other admonishes you to look at their record. If you want to know how you should vote. Look it up for yourself.

Donna Stands For Double Minded

Before Barack Obama won the nomination for the Democratic party's candidate for President. Donna Brazille was critical of the Democratic party and what it has done for the black voters in the past. Now she is aggressively out here campaigning on the Democrats behalf. Like nothing ever happened. She is proudly carrying the banner for Barack and the Democrats since he won. But what has changed over the last few months that hadn't changed in the last forty years? "Other than Obama being nominated and Donna being right for a change." She is another one of those Obama supporters who is now beating her drum like she never left the line. Now they want to put their differences aside and hold hands with those they were looking down their noses at a few weeks ago. What would they have done had Hillary Clinton won?

Age And Experience Over Intellect

Once again John McCain has out foxed Barack Obama and stole the show. The old man hasn't been a Senator for twenty-six years and hasn't been paying attention. His competition's inexperience in politics is showing now. However this latest situation plays out, John McCain is going to come out ahead. The only people that think he's avoiding the planned debate are Obama supporters. And that's wishful thinking. It's not even a complete sale with them. Most people know McCain has been challenging Obama to debates and town-hall meetings since they both were nominated to no avail. So this notion that Obama can't wait to face him in a debate is preposterous. Especially in light of the fact that he might lose the debate anyway. The American people would rather have their Senators in Washington doing something about the economy rather than in Oxford Miss. verbal jousting with each other. Instead it comes across as John McCain putting his own interests behind those of the American people.

Barack Obama trusted John McCain and he got played. While he was planning a joint appearance with him and McCain before the American people. Where he would at least get an equal bounce. John McCain was calling his own press conference to announce the suspension of his campaign until the bailout was resolved. Forcing Obama to take a position one way or the other. Resulting in an inappropriate comment. Contrary to how he probably really felt. It didn't help when President Bush requested they return to help reach a settlement. Essentially leaving his decision without teeth.

John McCain is full of surprises. I think tonight we might see another one. Barack Obama is in a bad position. Everything he does or doesn't do ends up getting turned around. John McCain uses it to his advantage. A one on one with America would be right up Obama's alley. It would be a stage for him to use his charm and charisma. I'm sure he's already preparing in hopes of that happening. I can't see McCain giving him that kind of opportunity. How would he handle a last minute debate? That would totally throw him off his game plan. Once again age and experience would triumph over intellect.

Buying Time And Silence

We can't say this is racism because John Ford stayed out of jail five years after he was found guilty. Even though race isn't the overwhelming factor behind the lack of appropriate action here. It still plays a very important role in this whole thing. If Bruce Thompson were black he wouldn't have gotten off so light. Not only the authorities but the black community would have been watching this case like a hawk. Oftentimes ambitious blacks are their own worst enemies when it comes to politics. Being used by shady whites to perpetuate their elaborate schemes on unsuspecting blacks.

Not only is Thompson getting a break on his sentence, but on the complete uncovering of his misdeeds as well. He took a plea bargain and shut the investigation down. If they had kept digging, a lot more people would be looking at some jail time now. Look who he has trailing him in the picture ( Leslie Ballin). He bought the best local legal defense he could buy. Considering what has taken place. It has remained relatively quiet in the media. Largely because blacks won't complain about a white man stealing, and they don't talk about each other. So this incident slides under the microscope. Bruce Thompson can only be sentenced to a year at the most. Since his sentencing has been delayed while his lawyer reviews a pre-sentence report. I bet he won't get the maximum he can get. He might end up doing six months. If he does any time at all.

Introducing Bridgett McCain

The rumors are being circulated that John McCain's adopted daughter is due to a extra-marital affair or was recently adopted to enhance his image with black voters. Some people will find something negative in a simple hello. It didn't cost you anything and there is no balloon payment at a later date. So take it for what it's worth and keep moving along. Get over your selfish spirit and learn to be happy for somebody else. Even though the blessings were ushered in through somebody you think you don't like. You must still give thanks to whom those blessings come from even if the source is Republican. Bridgett's angels came in the form of Cindy and John McCain.

Bridgett McCain was a child in a orphanage in the country of Bangladesh who suffered with a severe cleft palate. It was so severe she could not even be fed solid food. Thank God for someone with a caring heart such as Cindy McCain, otherwise the girl might have died without proper medical care. While on a missionary trip, Cindy McCain saw her and another child with a serious heart problem and brought them back to the United States. The other girl was adopted by another family. While Bridgett went home with the McCain's. There they both remain from that day until this one. Bridgett has grown into the beautiful young lady you see today.

Bailout Or Bankruptcy

The old saying goes. "If you dance to the music. You got to pay the piper." America has been dancing for the last fifteen years and now we have to pay. It stands to reason trouble would rear it's ugly head in the mortgage banking industry. There lies the most expensive single purchase of the average family in America. Anyone that has a mortgage they can't meet or is in danger of foreclosure. Not because they lost their job or their health failed or something else beyond their control. Other than the fact that they just signed on to a loan that they couldn't afford. They don't bare all the blame, but the lions share.If you are one of the 1.8 million people who took out a loan for up to a 125% of the value of the purchase.You are equally responsible for the mess we're in right now.

Henry Paulson is going to be either the deliverer or the sacrificial lamb here. He may very well be the most important man in American finance today. He was the one Barack Obama was errant in referring to when he said " we can't put $700 billion in one man's hands." Somebody has to do it; why not him? He has prepared for this job all his life. Probing Will Uncover Nothing

Mayor Willie Herenton is a man misunderstood by the very people he is trying to help. How do you expect our city to remain up to date if we never do like other cities and build anything new? Whatever the mayor suggests is met with cynicism and is undermined simply because it's his idea. Those who disagree always offer everything in protest but a viable solution. His latest suggestion of building a new convention center has been dismissed by some citizens as being a waste of their money. Even though the mayor has said it won't cost the taxpayers any money. There are those basing their disapproval of the plan on their distrust of him. Rather than base it on the end result. What he's saying is not weird science. It has been proven that we can pay for a project of this nature, as evidenced by the Cannon Center.

The time has come for us to go to the next level in our expectations for the city. Memphis is the 17th largest city in the entire country. And that's making a claim a whole lot of other cities can't make. Since we are not just a one red light town. Why should we be antiquated in our desires for development of the city of Memphis? People love to talk about what they seen somewhere else. Not stopping to think we could have the same thing here. In a city this size there are any number of projects going on or on the books at any time. The mayor has a long history of success in business and politics. Is it fair or even a miscarriage of justice to scrutinize every contract entered into with somebody he knows?

The only thing Mayor Herenton is guilty of is knowing a wealthy black man who has made some lucrative investments in this city. Elvin W. Moon owns an engineering firm that has received over $700,000 in no bid city contracts. Obviously he must be doing a good job. I must ask this question though. Is Mayor Daly of Chicago grilled when one of his associates signs a deal with the city of Chicago? I can't help but think it has something to do with race. Nobody questioned it when Justin Timberlake invested in Stax recording studios, even though he never spent five minutes in their studios. It was solely based on inside knowledge he obtained due to his popularity and connections. This is just more of the same. As long as we are getting what we pay for. There should be no problem. Probing will uncover nothing.

Respectfully Agree To Disagree

The city schools have restarted a program that has been absent a long time. For the first time in forty years we will once again have debate teams. I think this is a good thing for the whole community. As well as well versed students, it creates some conscientious citizens. And the biggest expenditure is dedication from the students. We don't have to go over the budget with a fine toothed comb to find the money. And we don't have to hire any additional personnel. Believe it or not, I talked to someone who didn't. They personified the need for this type training. Especially for those who want a career in public service. How could someone possibly find fault with this?

I have often heard the phrase "dumbing down of America." The absence of programs like this gives some validity to that statement. Since schools all over the country didn't follow suit. Obviously everybody didn't think it was such a good idea. I would love to know the political demographics of those areas where they have cut it out. The Sheild

This young lady (Regina Thompson) was arrested and charged with assault and battery and breaking and entering, after she broke into a former boyfriend's (Henry Brown) house and attacked him. She forced an air conditioner out and climbed through the window. Then hit the ex-boyfriend in the mouth with her pistol.When the police arrived at the scene, Regina Thompson told them she was a police officer too. Probably thinking that was going to make a difference in the outcome. There was no reason not to believe her. It seemed believable since she was in a undercover automobile registered to the Menphis police. Considering the circumstances of the case. It would seem she would want to keep quiet the fact that she was a police.

I can't help but think about a television cop show called the "The Shield." It dealt with the behind the scenes workings of a big city police department. I just think this is one of those cases coming to light in Memphis. On the show they even had confidential informants that made a living snitching. With the level of crime in the city of Memphis. I'm not surprised there would be informants of this magnitude here. If what I heard about her background is true. She would make a likely candidate. This wasn't just your run of the mill domestic dispute call. It was serious enough to bring the commander of the Organized Crime Unit (Jeff Clark) to the scene. The public can't have access to everything the department does. Then it wouldn't be undercover. This was supposed to be hidden by the shield.

A Chinese Child's Life

One of my posters has been taking me to task about the huge debt America is running up with China. Even though it usually has nothing to do with what we're talking about. They do have a valid point. But I try to get them to focus on the bigger issue. Loaning money to America is an investment in their own future. Like the old saying goes. "As long as I owe you. You will never be broke." Who better to have in your debt, than the United States?

Instead of spending money abroad. China could better use it on their very own people. They are in dire need of dealing with some human rights issues. Like feeding their people without killing them. This isn't the first time there has been a problem with this exact chemical. Apparently it's human life versus the bottom line. With the bottom line winning. I don't think they place the same value on human life as America does. They have a history of cutting corners that ultimately end in the loss of life. Between their self induced birth control methods and natural disasters. Not to mention stuff like this. Soon there won't be anyone left to collect the debt. America puts more value on household pets. Than China does a Chinese child's life.

I would love to hear what the Ghanaians have to say about President George Bush and their relatively new Democratic way of life. This concept of government was only introduced to the Ghanaian people in the late nineteen nineties. Since Americans take their fortune for granted because it's expected. Seldom do we pay attention to the success of those just starting out with democracy. We are blessed beyond measure to be where we are right now. In a region where civil unrest and conflict rule. President John Kufuor and Ghana have been a bright light in the midst of darkness. As someone who has stood with President Bush even though it is often been unpopular. President Kufuor speaks highly of President Bush and how he has faced unexpected challenges. With Ghana having an overwhelmingly black population. In his country I wonder how much time does he spend addressing ad-hominem attacks by other blacks? Is he really judged by the content of his character, and not the color of his skin?

Palin Parody

Sarah (Rockwell) Palin

Forgive me if I sound giddy over Sarah Palin's injection of enthusiasm into the race. That's a word I seldom use in regards to myself. But I find myself giggling every time I see the Democrats trying to counteract the impact Sarah Palin has had on this race. Before some one accuses me of being wishy washy. Let me first clarify my position. Even though I didn't initially support the choice of a woman for Vice President. I prayed for reconciliation with my issues. God granted my wishes. The men in power seem ready to flush this country down the drain. We need someone willing to fight for right. If it takes a skirt and some high heels to get it done. Let the race begin.

Sarah Palin is not a maverick other than the fact that she is a woman doing a man's job. She hasn't compromised not one platform of the Republican party. Though she is being measured by those standards. She knows where life begins and she doesn't support civil unions. So she passes the smell test on that alone. Those are important issues to many Americans. I do think she used her office to get rid of her brother-in-law, but that's not a deal breaker. Regardless of the outcome of the investigation. He was out of control and his boss served at her discretion. Instead she embodies them in spite of her personal situation. Which says a lot about her character.

Her story is like a lifetime movie. Seems like she has had a guardian angel all her life. Starting when she was a guard on her high school basketball team. Though she wasn't a high scorer. Her skills wear instrumental in winning the state championship. She earned the name "Barracuda" for her tenacity on the court. She was persistent even then. She paid her way through college by winning beauty contests and scholarships. She eloped with her high school sweetheart and they have five children now. Since she has been elected governor her husband has quit his steelworkers union job and become a stay-at-home dad. The only thing I haven't seen is a dog and cat. If she has both or either of those. There goes the animal lovers vote. She gives me such a nostalgic feeling. It makes you wonder. Was Norman Rockwell in her family?

Bill O'Reilly For Something

I know this guy doesn't have time to work on John McCain's campaign, but I hope they're watching his show. He's too busy ripping the opponent new ones on his television show. And I'm sure the compensation package doesn't compare. His ratings this week have gone through the roof. If it wasn't for Obama being on camera agreeing to do so after the primary. I bet he wouldn't have honored this commitment to Bill O'Reilly. That had to be one of the longest interviews he has ever had. At least I'm sure it felt that way. I think his debates with John McCain will be more of the same.

As I listened and watched with an open mind. Afterwards I was even more confident that I was right all along. Bill O'Reilly exposed the fact that one on one debate is O'Bama's weakness. Untilm now he has been untested. I could see it in his eyes he was thinking. "This is the effect Joe Biden was supposed to have on the Republicans." Once again he was beaten to the punch. Bill O'Reilly jokingly asked him for a job if elected. Another question Obama danced uncomfortably around. If for no other reason than to keep him quiet. He should hire Bill O'Reilly for something.

The Steady And Not The Swift

This presidential election resembles an old fairy tale playing out in real life. Could this be the 2008 remake of the tortoise and the hare? Since the Democratic convention the Democrats must feel like they've been hit by a tidal wave. Like The Clinton campaign did in regards to Barack Obama. They looked up one day and he had done irreparable damage. Obama is making the same mistake when it comes to John McCain. At this point he doesn't have time to reformulate his attack. He has to stick with what got him to the dance and just hope it lasts until November.

The latest claim of dirty politics is without teeth. His proposed plan of action is even worse.
Obama told undecided voters here. But he dipped into history, citing the oft-repeated phrase: "If you don't stop lying about me, I'm going to have to start telling the truth about you." I thought the aim was to be telling the truth all the time. Though McCain may have stated slow. Lately the momentum has changed. The race goes to the steady not the swift.

I don't know the whole story here. We're just getting bits and pieces, and adding the rest as we go along. Chauncy Jones has confessed to the murder, and Pat Malone is dead. We may never get the whole deal on what exactly happened. At first the story was that she was pregnant. And she was trying to get money for an abortion. That didn't sound right, since they had only been dating a couple of weeks. Even a gold digger doesn't work that fast. Unless they have a straight up trick. She didn't give him a chance to get caught up in the mix. It looks like she made her move too soon. Whatever they were doing, ended up with her getting three bullets in the head.

Another Visit To The Dentist

Once again the controversial congressman has stuck his foot in his mouth. This time he compared the community activism work of Barack Obama to the work of Jesus. His dental bills must cost a fortune. I'm not surprised that Steve Cohen would make an offensive statement like this. He didn't do it on purpose. He has just gotten used to running his mouth unchecked. Locally he has like "the emperor with no clothes" effect on the citizens. I hope he'll be a long time living this one down. Unfortunately for voters like myself, it won't affect his upcoming election. Thank God, the rest of the country isn't as easily impressed as the 9th district. I suppose his next suggestion will be that, "we change some of the names in the bible."

Wright Is Wrong

Keeping to my customary stance. "Something in this soup isn't tomatoes." I'm not going to say former Pastor Jeremiah Wright is guilty, but his hands aren't totally clean either. I bet when they get to the bottom of this scandal, there was some fishy business involved here. Thirty-seven year old Elizabeth Payne has filed a complaint with the EEOC to get her job back. After word of her relatiobship with Wright got out. Her sixty-four year old husband didn't leave this pretty young thing for nothing. She probably preys on older men. I don't think it was to the extent, that Wright was going to leave his wife. Especially for a white woman. The backlash would be to great. But I think he slept with her on more than one occasion. It was what's known as a booty call. Whether he mislead her, or she got there all by herself. If indeed he is guilty. Wright is wrong.

Lipstick On A Pig

Honestly, Republicans are overacting to Barack Obams's comment about a pig and lipstick. It's a commonly used one liner, even John McCain has used. It was just a statement made in jest. A bit of humor if you must. Having said that, he should know better by now. This race is getting down to the wire. So everything he says is going to be closely scrutinized.

What Barack Obama and Joe Biden better do, is put on their big boy shoes. And stop trying to dictate what people discuss. The Republicans don't really care what you choose to talk about. They have their own agenda. And if you win, your daughters better stay cute. You've seen how cruel the public can be, based on their treatment of Michelle Obama. Your life is an open book. Just like Governor Palen's. A lot of soft shoeing was done in the Democratic primary, but it's for all the marbles now.

Where Are The Hoods

It would be presumptive on my part, to think I have these people figured out. I have met on a couple of occasions, one of the featured speakers (James Edwards), even called in on his radio show a few times. But that doesn't qualify me as an expert, but I am a good judge of character. I can tell a lot about a person by looking in his eye and shaking his hand. He didn't come across as some white supremist lunatic. What I think we have here is a group of whites who are tired of taking what they feel is a back seat to minorities.

I can see why a white person from this area might feel the need to join a group. Some blacks are so antagonistic toward them, under the right circumstances they might become targets. James Edward's co-host Austin Farley went on a local black television show, and practically had to defend himself. One on one he was never in any real danger. But a group could have easily become a gang. I can also understand why they're being so secretive about their meeting place. They don't want a whole lot of uninvited guests showing up crashing the party. If you didn't see this coming. You need a new prescription. The celebration was short lived. Now the European Americans have scheduled a convention in Memphis. It would be unfair to deny them accomodations. Even though you suspect them of being a racist organization. The stage has already been set with some of the citizens, by calling them the KKK. Though I haven't seen them mentioned by the group sponsoring the convention. Somehow they have been given credit for the affair. They are not usually shy about who they are. When her father was assassinated, this woman was only six years old. Unless Obama is talking about Easy bake ovens and Barbie dolls. He probably doesn't remind her of that time in her life. I bet no little black child was around during her childhood. She didn't have any black playmates in the White House. She probably never really knew a black until she went to college. It's unlikely she remembers the politics of that time. It's an honorable gesture to compare Barack Obama to her father John F. Kennedy. But that's all it is though, a nationally televised compliment. Saying this guy reminds her of her father could honestly only mean one thing. Between his busy schedule and extra curricular activities. If she would be totally honest. She remembers what it was like not seeing her father much, when she was a child.

Michael Floyd

I don't know this man personally, but I like his style. The next time Michael Floyd runs for office. I'll remember his name. I don't blame him for throwing his weight around to make a point. It just so happens that his point and the law, are on the same page this time. I knew it was just a matter of time before somebody would silence Thaddeus Matthews. He would have you think this is no big deal. But it is though. When have you ever known him not to continue to run his mouth? Even when he is obviously been proven wrong. That never stopped him before. You won't see or hear this guys name mentioned on his blog or show anymore. Since I don't foresee any future dealings with juvenile court. That's why I better mention it on this blog.

This man has been accused of using his office to get even with one of his campaign adversaries. While that may have some merit. That's not totally the case though. I just think he found an old law on the book that helped him do his job. The claim of this being a debt and not child support is wearing thin. Instead of moving it to another court. Just pay the bill. You can't agree to pay $500 a month on a $60,000 bill, while bragging about paying $6000 a month for a radio show. Somebody should have invoked this rule long ago. Michael Floyd is just doing his job.

Who Is Complaining

I don't know how good he is as a lawyer, but we're likely to soon find out. If he is wrong it's probably going to cost the town money they don't have. Which is at the root of all the city's problems anyway. The Mayor of Helena/West Helena Arkansas J.F. Valley, is making the news quite often these days. All of which are drawing the attention of the ACLU. I'm one of those people who think they represent the extreme in every situation. For me, their involvement automatically raises a red flag. They find the negative in everything and argue the point. They have the dubious distinction of being upset for somebody else.

This time their motives have been exposed though. Usually no one is willing to put up the bucks needed to challenge them. But this time they were offered free living quarters in the area in question. Let them be in the midst of the bullets being fired for a change. So they could see the other side first hand. Needless to say, "they haven't accepted that offer yet."

Mayor Valley is facing the same dilemma as many black Mayors across this country. They're expected to provide the same level of service, with only a portion of the money. This is a small town Mayor dealing with a big city problem. Like cities across America, he is dealing with a gang problem. He is using the only means available to him. And I commend him for his actions. It's easy to sit on the sideline and say what should be done. Rolling your sleeves up and getting your hands dirty, is a different story. It seems that the residents agree with his actions. The people who are getting caught, with the aid of the ACLU. Is the only one who is complaining.

Redefining The Republican Party

I think it's rather hypocritical for Democrats to be trying to carry the banner for family values and job experience now. Just last week they expected us to vote for a inexperienced, same sex-marriage supporting, baby killer. Now they're trying to persecute this woman because her seventeen year old daughter is pregnant. Before now they have shown a poor example themselves. Just the other day a Democratic Mayor of a major metropolitan city resigned from office. Due to things he himself had done. I find it strange, no one is talking about that. But they blame this woman for the actions of her teenage daughter.

Barack Obama has been in the Senate for twenty-two months and he has been running for President, eighteen of them. His meteoric rise is nothing short of miraculous. His supporters would have you think. He has a long and established track record. Aside from those one hundred and thirty times he voted present. The few times he did vote. It was in agreement with the party over a controversial issue. Like not informing parents about their minor daughter getting an abortion. He's the most liberal Senator on the hill. For those who talk about the number of people she has governed. She got more votes running for Mayor of Wasilla, Ak., than Joe Biden did running for the President of the United States. She is also the only one in the running with executive experience. She was Governor of Alaska.

I finally figured out why the Democrats are so upset. They shouldn't care who John McCain picks as his running mate. If he made a bad choice, that makes it better for them. That''s not the case though. Sarah Palen is redefining the Republican party as we know it. They have always said the Republicans are the party of rich white men. Here is a young lady with many of the same issues as people in middle America. Yet she is still staunch in her Conservative views. She has a son enlisted in the Army. A teenage daughter who is pregnant, and a union worker for a husband who's layed-off right now. If that's not enough she has a handicapped child. All or one of which make her relate to the majority of women in this country. What more does it take to make her mainstream?

McCain Is The Man

His speech wasn't as firey as Barack Obama's, but it was effective. It gave us a detailed overview of what to expect for the next four years. If John McCain is elected the 44th President Of The United States. It reminded me of the old story about the two bulls. "The young bull said let's go down and get one of those cows. The old bull said, let's walk down and get them all." That best describes these two Presidential candidates administrative styles, and the way they approach this office. Let's not look to hear the likes of a Billy Graham or John Hagee, when John McCain speaks. The man has been in office for twenty-six years. He has never been revered for his earth shaking speeches. That's why they have Sarah Palen on the ticket. She's a Pitt Bull in a dress. She has a mouth like a machine gun. But we must remember who is in charge. McCain is the man.

I must admit I wasn't to keen on his choice for a running mate. I still have some reservations about that decision. But the decision wasn't mine to make. Hopefully the end justifies the means. It happened just like I figured it would happen when she was picked. The pistol packin, moose dressin,supermom Sarah Palin has become the focus of this election. The silencing factor is, this woman is more Conservative than John McCain. Even if you don't support the feminist movement. You have to like everything else about her. We can only hope she rubs off, or has some influence on him. She is the ideal balance the ticket needs, for those who think John McCain is too moderate. While she is winning the popularity contest. He can win the election.

The only thing I'm not settled about, is his stand on immigration. In an almost hour long speech it wasn't mentioned at all. I thought and still feel it's an important issue in this election. Maybe he took a page from his opponents book. Barack Obama mentioned it only once in his acceptance speech. It didn't receive much response. I heard a radio host playing one of his clips. That was the one point in his speech that got very little applause. This is a touchy issue for both parties. That doesn't seem to be foremost in the voters minds. Otherwise this guy is solid in his politics. McCain is the man.

This Guy Is Just On The Side

I was watching a rally put on for Ron Paul supporters in St. Paul yesterday, just across the river from where the Republican convention was taking place. A little over ten thousand supporters showed up and cheered for him, like it still made a difference in the outcome of the final result. I don't mean to discount their importance as voters, but the battle is over now. John McCain received three thousand delegates. I think Paul accounted for a total of nine electoral votes overall. Four of them were from his home state of Texas. It wasn't down to the wire like Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. Ron Paul finished in the top four, but mainly because he didn't quit. I don't care for his politics, but I respect his tenacity.

Don't underestimate the power of this little big eared man from Texas. Remember how Ross Perot gave us Bill Clinton. Though I personally consider him a bit extreme. There is a following for his brand of politics. I noticed his supporters were largely young white males who are of drafting age. Only these guys have three children and a mortgage. Listen to them closely. They don't mind fighting, just not for everyone. They want to go back to the days of the wild west. May the best man win.For starters they're weak on national security. Yet they're anti-gun control. They want to allow illegals in the country, and then shoot them if they break the law. They want to cut the cost of government down to a bare minimum. Which means all social programs are going to be cut. They've picked hot button issues from both platforms, while claiming to be Republicans. This is just a means of getting attention. Ron Paul and his Internet posse aren't either right or left. This guy is just on the side.

Give Them A Gas Card

Forgive me if I don't roll out the red carpet for the evacuees from New Orleans. We haven't recovered from the aftereffects of our hospitality last time. I heard about an incident yesterday, where two young women from New Orleans supposedly were carjacked. A little voice inside me told me to wait a while before I said anything. Good thing I did. As it turns out, we didn't have the whole story. These young ladies already had hotel rooms, and left their kids with a babysitter. Met two guys on Getwell Ave., and partied on Beale. They weren't the damsels in distress they first appeared to be. When their car and the suspects were found by police. The so-called victims refused to press charges. I was suspicious when I heard where it happened. It was an unlikely place to go looking for directions. I told that whole story to say this.

The storm didn't cause nearly the damage everyone had anticipated. So it shouldn't cause nearly the inconvenience as though it did. To the evacuees or those residents of those cities they visit. Let's make sure this is a temporary visit and not a vacation. I commend those people who are in a hurry to get back home. If you're going to live in that area, this goes with the territory. By no means do we want another Katrina. But we can't live in constant fear of it happening again. The rest of the country can't be disrupted everytime New Orleans gets a bad weather report. I find it amusing that Mayor Ray Nagin is being so decisive this time. Telling people not to return home to quick. Is quite presumptive on his part. We were there for them when there was a threat. Now that it's not. Instead of collecting school supplies and providing them with temporary quarters. The most loving thing we can do is, give them a gas card they can use to get home.

Palin's Unplanned Pregnancy

This gives credence to the old wives tale. "In every rumor there is a grain of truth." Someone was circulating the lie that Sarah Palin's four month old "Downs Syndrome" child, was actually that of her fifteen year old daughter and not her own. As it turns out, she does have a pregnant daughter. Just not the one they're claiming on the Internet. Only it's her seventeen year old Bristol, and everybody in Wasilla, Alaska already knew. Does this damage or enhance her credibility? I think this only makes her someone who even relates more to the average American family. If everyone or their family members that was in this same boat voted for Sarah Palin. The Republican ticket would win hands down. I suppose this qualifies as Governor Palin's unplanned pregnancy.
