Raisin Head

When a terrorist act takes place the color of the terrorist really doesn't matter. But I couldn't help but notice the last one looked a little different. For all those blacks that find themselves all of a sudden being courted by Al-Quedda might need to read this.

Nice To Be Nice

This crime is almost two months old and it is already old news. Like the mother said no one is even talking about it anymore. Probably for the best though. Initially people were hesitant to come to this mother's aid. There were questions surrounding her competency as a parent. The estranged father made claims of trying to get custody of his son. The one thing I remember clearly about this case is no one came forward at first and claimed the boys body. All signs pointed to a lack of parental supervision.

Is it exploitation if the subjects are willing to be the focus of our attention? And we use it to motivate others to action for our benefit. I am privy to information not known to the general public. So I know this is not just a random choice of recipients. Why didn't Promise Land Church get involved when it first happened? I would like to be a fly on certain people's wall. After hearing the mother's theory on what happened. I still have some questions concerning the events surrounding this young man's death. But for the time being it's just nice to be nice.

The Punishment Should Fit The Crime

We have to take a tougher stance on crime because it's only getting worse. I have started to hear the excuses already. Quit extending grace to these unrepentant heathens. " If you let the devil ride, he'll want to drive." We're going to have to lower the gauntlet in spite of who gets caught. I even found myself trying to determine the level of each of these suspects involvement in the most gruesome acts of violence I've heard about. They robbed someone and set him on fire. This takes violence to a whole new level.

Nothing we do now is going to help Kelvin Cooper. But maybe we can keep it from happening to somebody else. In spite of what some people say. Some things you just can't make right. I suspect a love triangle here somewhere. I'm not so sure Kelvin Cooper wasn't a sugar daddy. The young woman was the catalyst. Without her it would have never happened. The two men are both responsible. One did it and the other did nothing to stop it. We have to send the message " guilt by association." If there was a chance that these people would be subject to the same pain and suffering they inflict. These type crimes would all but disappear. The punishment should fit the crime.

I Give Him A C-Minus

I won't be so quick to call this president a failure. He hasn't been in office long enough to warrant that type of assessment. We have more of this administration left than we've already had.

The president gave himself a B- for his performance so far. Secretly, even he doesn't believe that himself. He has maintained many of the previous administrations policies. For that reason I give him a C- minus.

Statue Of Boyhood Obama Erected

This probably doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things but I found it inyeresting. I think it's ironic that the president's birthplace would be in question and the only recollection of his youth would be in a foreign land.

It's Not Going Anywhere

When they let the University Of Memphis out of their lease with the Pyramid, I knew finding another
occupant would be difficult In my opinion it's just more overspill from John Calipari taking this town for a ride. We had two constants in the University Of Memphis and the Pyramid. We should have left them together.

That's why when Bass Pro asks for an extension on their contract I have no problem. As long as they are paying rent and we have a half million dollar insurance policy. We can't lose. It's not going anywhere.

Double Standard

I'm trying to find a common thread here. It isn't easily visible without closer examination. One guy cheats on his wife and loses millions of dollars in commercial endorsements. The other does the same thing and gets a television reality show. I bet Irv Gotti's former wife is wondering where was all this public outcry and concern when her husband was publicly bragging about his infidelity? He has more pictures with his girlfriend out in public than with his wife and kids..

I don't think it's about the men but the women in this case. The public reaction is more severe when the wife is white though. She can be a two timing ,gold digging, drug addict. Her black husband is expected to keep his nose clean. Some people still haven't gotten over the O.J. Simpson verdict. Yet the story on Steve McNair got very little coverage. It' a double standard.

Address What Bothers You

The president of the local chapter of the SCLC has had it pretty rough today. It started early this morning with Pastor Dwight Montgomery appearing on WLRM 1600. The callers were eager to let him know they thought his efforts and travel to Kennet Mo. in support of Heather Ellis was a waste of time and money. It didn't help that the young lady plea bargained for the same deal that was offered to her two years ago. It was a publicity horse that didn't finish the race. He mentioned the Jenna 6 incident in his conversation more than once. Those who were pushing this were hoping to gain similar media attention, but it didn't happen as planned.

Those who seemed to be the most critical of him have screwed the pooch themselves in the past. At first I thought he was being extra with his responses, but as the day went on I saw it was needed. Some people can't disagree without being disrespectful. So you have to tell them where to get off. I don't agree with why he said it, but I agree with what he said. "You can't pick and choose what another person is upset about. You should address what bothers you."

Let Him Run

I hope the commission doesn't just hand this appointment to Justin Ford, the son of the interim mayor and former holder of this same commission seat. Unfortunately he'll probably get it soon enough. But let him run. http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2009/dec/02/25-justin-ford-aims-fathers-county-commission-seat/?partner=popular

Tell The Truth

To those who think this should be a private matter. Hitting and destoying a fire hydrant and ending up in his neighbor's yard made this a public affair. Had the person with the golf club been someone other than his wife. Tiger Woods would have expected the help of the police I bet. How did this become more of a story covered as politics rather than sports or entertainment? It was the topic of every show that aired on Fox yesterday. I never heard Tiger Woods swing his far reaching arm of influence one way or the other. I haven't heard him endorse "Hope and Change." So why did Sean Hannity make him his lead story?

If him and his wife had a fight, just say that. Put the wolves and instigators to bed. It would look better than him avoiding questions and hiding out. Instead of making a statement to police. He has went and hired a lawyer. Why not just get it over with? The public will probably never really know what happened. It doesn't take a week to tell the truth.
