Freedom Of Assembly

Those people gearing up to disrupt the conference next week put on by the European American Unity organization may be in for a bit of a surprise. Looks like they have bitten off more than they can chew. Especially if they think their intimidation tactics are going to work. These aren't some teenage kids with a Ford Ranger advertising some weekend gathering on a Myspace page. Just hanging out at a motel party room drinking kegs of beer and listening to punk rock music. This is obviously a well organized group with money, meeting at a large conference and meeting facility. That has an agenda and the means to carry it out.

This really boils down to the right to assemble. As long as they don't cause harm to others. It doesn't matter that David Duke is their leader. They are free to meet all they want. Long as they don't burn any crosses or hang anyone. I don't think they plan to march down the streets of Olive Branch with white sheets over their heads either. They are meeting to address these very same type situations. In an area where it is obviously still a problem. Here blacks are trying to deny them the right of a peaceful assembly, not looking at the flip side of that. What happens when they start to deny access to public places because they represent blacks? Like NAN and the NOI for instance. They both have ties to violence in the past. Let's be objective. The constitution gives everyone the right of freedom of assembly.

Janis Is Going To Work It Out

Janis Fullilove is like a cat with nine lives. She has used several of them up lately though. She will get a reprieve politically, but I think her chances with the law have finally played out. I think she might be going to jail. Her troubles have gone beyond the city limits and have become the concern of the state. In addition to the paparazzi news coverage it has attracted. Plus the water cooler conversation. All of which take the favor factor out of the equation. In light of her latest legal troubles. Some citizens are screaming for her ouster from the City Council. Which isn't likely to happen. I wouldn't blame Janis if she didn't resign her seat. With all the question marks surrounding her and her prior history. The voters shouldn't have elected her in the first place. Since they already have. The city just has to wait on her like they did with Ophelia Ford. Who btw just received her lawyer fees to the tune of $107 thousand. Like they have in the past. This to shall pass. Janis is going to work it out.

A Taste Of Their Own Medicine

I'm not condoning this type behavior but I'm not denouncing it either. You might not like how they're saying it, but they're telling the truth. I think this is some of what's been missing from the Republican party's attack. The liberals have called John McCain everything but a decent citizen. Don't mention how disrespectful they've been to Sarah Palin. Even though McCain has been one of their closest allies on the Republican side in the past. As political analysts Juan Williams said "it's time to turn momma's picture around and take the gloves off." John McCain has always tried to take the high road, while having his legs cut from beneath him by the bottom dwellers on the other team. If I based my assessment on this video. Looks like some of them have switched sides. The Obama supporters look befuddled by what's happening. This is just a taste of their own medicine.

F.Y.I.

Rhode Island is a predominately Democratic state that generally embraces the platform of that party. Since the nations economy is the most pressing problem today in America. I think it's interesting to note two of this states distinctions. They have both the highest business tax and highest unemployment rate in the country. What does that tell you?

Rhode Islands Business Tax structure:
• Only one state has an income-tax rate on the books that's higher than Rhode Island's 9.9 percent top rate: California's "millionaire's tax" of 10.3 percent.
• In corporate taxation, only eight states have a higher rate than Rhode Island's 9 percent.
• In unemployment-insurance taxes, the federal government sets permissible minimums and maximums, and Rhode Island levies the highest allowed.
• In property taxes, Rhode Island's collections are sixth highest per capita and fifth highest as a percentage of income. Plus there's the dreaded capital-stock tax, a punitive tax on business property that 27 states do without entirely.
• The state sales-tax rate of 7 percent is tied for highest nationwide.

Unemployment rate:

The Tax Cuts In Numbers

The tax plans

Obama - McCain
$227,000 - a year - plus
$23,000 more - $15,000 less

$112,000 - $227,000 (15% of population)
$2,300 less - $3,200 less

$66,000 - $112,000 (20% of population)
$1,290 less ($500 per worker tax credit for $0 to $150,000) - $1009 less

$38,000 - $66,000 (20% of population)
$1,042 less - $319 less

$19,000 - $38,000 (20% of population)
$892 less - $113 less

$0 - $19,000 (20% of population)
$567 less - $19 less

Tax breaks for all :

College credit: $4,000 a year per student in school (Obama)

Double dependent credit from $3500 to $7000 (McCain)

Barack Obama is telling the truth when he says he is giving a tax cut to 95% of all Americans. The problem is half of them don't pay any taxes anyway. Everybody is looking at their own pockets before making their decisions. What good is a tax cut when you don't have an income?

Halt Means Stop

I've had an opinion about this incident for a while now. Some time I keep my comments to myself out of respect for the grieving family. This case was displaced so quickly this time. My comments might sound like they're after the fact. The red flag automatically goes up when certain local problem profiteers get involved. They tend to beat the drums of injustice prematurely. It gives them something to rant and rave about. The question I had when this first came up is what was he doing walking on Tchulohoma and Democrat at 1:30 A.M. in the morning? I know it's not against the law to walk down the public streets. Some things require an explanation though.

This scenario is getting a little old and predictable. "Unarmed man under suspicion, while resisting arrest is killed by police. First we had Deaunta Farrow, and then Timothy Jones. Now we have Reginald Pointer. None of these young men deserved to die, but they weren't totally innocent either. My heart goes out to these mothers, but they might bare some of the blame. Listening to them talk now. Makes you wonder what they taught their sons. The main thing these three mothers have in common is their sons are dead. In all these cases it would have served these young men to remember one thing. When dealing with the police. Halt means stop.

They Might Get It Right

Democrats seem to be putting a lot of stock in early voting. Unless you commit voter fraud; you can only vote once. I'm not so sure you can trust the polls. All throughout this election the polls have been repeatedly wrong. If they lay all their cards on the table early. They won't have any left on the big day. In my area there have been lines around the buildings. They're predicting record breaking numbers at the polls. I've heard numbers as high as a 80% turnout. That of course benefits Obama in this city, but he's going to have to win more than the major black cities. The longer it takes for the undecided voters to go out and pull the lever. The better it will be for John McCain. The longer they listen and study the issues. The more informed they become. There's the chance they might get it right.

Trembling

I like and respect Andrew Clarksenior. He is a breath of fresh air in a stale Memphis radio market. All the other shows are either too far to the right, or too far to the left. I think he is one of the smartest and most informative personalities we have on local talk radio. Even though he heaps undue praises on his station mates Mike Flemming and Ben Ferguson. A lot of listeners would rather hear him everyday than them. He is often generous to the point of sounding like he's kissing up. I have never heard either of them return the favor though. In the past he has been a pillar for the Conservative movement, but today I heard the sound of defeat in his voice.

The reason I am so critical of black men who label themselves Conservatives. We have to have some men still standing when the smoke clears regardless of the outcome of the election. "If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything." Even if Barack Obama wins the race. We who stood against him were still right. Adolph Hitler had the support of the majority of Germans before the holocaust. I'm glad people like Andrew only have nine days left. Stretch it out a few more days, and they might not last. It's tough having those you love on the opposing team even when you win. Believe me, I know how it feels. Makes you want to join them. Even though you know they're rooting for the wrong team. I'll be glad when Andrew can get back to his old self. And let Ms. Hardiman get back to being the producer. She tends to lean to the left. He needs to get back to swatting down liberal arguments and proving his attackers wrong. Like I've pointed out in the last few posts. They're on the right side now, but they're trembling.

Do The Right Thing

In all fairness I must say. "I didn't actually talk to Mr. Members but his dedicated wife. She is probably his biggest fan." To have a strong woman standing by your side is always a feather in your hat. She isn't the one running for office though. It just makes your battle that much easier. It's safe to say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. She was like a tape recording of him in a female voice. A lot of people claim to be Republicans, just like a lot a lot of people claim to be Christians these days. When the fit hits the shan. You'll find out if they have any backbone then.

This race has nothing to do with me personally, but it does affect my position as a Conservative. The question arose as to why the RNC hasn't reached out to blacks in the past. Could it be because blacks are so monolithic in their thinking? It would be a waste of time and money to seek their support. I tried to explain that the reason the RNC doesn't support black male candidates is because they're unreliable as a whole. Not to make the sweeping indictment that all black men are weak. Just that an extrenely high number are. Look at all the high profile blacks that have abandoned their party just because Barack Obama is in the race. Not to mention those like Ray Nagin who compromised their positions earlier on to get elected. In a previous article I pointed out the racial fallout we are witnessing.

We have to come to the realization that we're one in ten in America. What ever happens to this country, happens to blacks as well. We can't stand in line to share the spoils of war. When we hadn't participated in the battle. Even when you do that doesn't always insure a big payday. You don't always get paid for doing what's right. At some point someone has to make a sacrifice for the good of others. Even when it doesn't go the way you want. You still have to do the right thing.

The jury is still out on him. Go to his website and see what you think:

Race Before Religion

This is just another example of a black in a high profile position folding under pressure from other blacks. Bishop J. Terry Steib of the Memphis Catholic diocese has issued a statement telling local Catholics not to vote on just one issue. In other words forget everything we've said in the past and take everything you feel into consideration this time. Indirectly telling black, left leaning, Catholic, liberals it's okay to vote for Barack Obama. http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2008/oct/23/dont-base-vote-on-1-issue-bishop-02/

I'm not much on the Catholic faith, but it's usually one of discipline and tradition. After other priest in Dallas and Fort Worth Tx. and Scranton Pa. spoke out against any candidate who supports abortion. As a black Catholic Steib had to break ranks. Since Barack Obama is pro abortion, among other things Catholics teach against. Bishop Steib felt compelled to make a statement. He has held his position as bishop for the last two elections. What's different about this one? Other than the fact that one of the candidates running is black. Look what he was saying in 2000.http://www.solidgroundministry.com/sg_news/black_catholic_vigil_for_life_2000.htm

Bishop J. Terry Steib has been mysteriously absent since he made the infamous comment. He has joined hands with people like Father Flegler. Who made those controversial comments during the primary. Lately we've experienced a rash of outspoken priest. This may come back to haunt them if Obama doesn't win. Bishop Stein is just one of many men of the cloth who have put their race before religion.

If You Live By The Sword, You Die By The Sword

Lately Louis Farrakhan has been trying to ease the NOI back into the American mainstream. Just this week he had a big meeting at the Chicago mosque and talked for two hours about how all Americans should come together as a group. He also talked about facing the issues of the upcoming election and vote accordingly. In spite of one's race, religion, background or politics. Put the country first. Doesn't that theme sound familiar? Even though he was one of the first to endorse Barack Obama. The Obama camp rejected it for fear of a backlash. Somehow I think Obama gave him a behind the scenes wink. In my personal opinion. Due to his recent health problems. I think he has become concerned with the legacy he's going to leave behind. If he doesn't inject fire somehow into movement. Twenty years from now the NOI will be history.

Then we have Armstrong Williams who basically admitted he was for sale. He has been known as a staunch black Conservative for many years. Now all of a sudden he's voting for the most liberal Senator on the hill. With no compromises at all. What has Barack Obama done that any other Democrat hasn't done in the past? That might give a Conservative even an inkling that he might meet them in the middle. Makes you wonder about his actual intent to begin with. Some people take a stand just to be different. Just a couple of years ago Williams was in hot water for taking money for promoting "No Child Left Behind." Was he lying or just getting paid? Armstrong Williams main concern is Armstrong Williams. He thinks history is going to be made and he doesn't want to miss out.

Then we have T.D. Jakes of "Woman thou art loosed" fame, weighing in on the upcoming Presidential election with his two cents. Obviously without considering the word of God. I don't understand how all these ministers can openly support all the things they're supposed to teach against. Yet they boldly claim to be born-again Christians with a straight face. I would love to hear a debate between Pastor John Hagee and any pastor who disagrees with him. That will never happen though, because it would be a slaughter. His "I vote the bible" series is in a class by itself.I've seen the other members of Pastor Jake's' family, and I detect a dent in his armour. Him and Barack Obama share many of the same target audience. They both play the role of a surrogate man to many of these women. He doesn't want to estrange the black unattached female. Tithes and contributions might fall off around the potters house.

Then we have what I consider the ultimate betrayal. To both his political party and his race as well. I heard former Secretary of State Colin Powell try to explain his convictions away. He was either right in the past or he's wrong now. You can't be both at the same time. I'm not as surprised as some people are by his latest move. I knew he was shaky when he criticized the war in Iraq. He is a victim of what I call the Harry Belafonte syndrome. In his old age he has become somewhat bitter and rebellious, because he has become painfully aware of the fact he is still black. To give him the benefit of the doubt. I have to consider this. He may think he can be a bridge bringing the truth back to blacks. I will just say this about that. If you come in on your knees, you will never be allowed to stand on your feet.

All of these men are showing their true colors. They also each have colors we don't see. Ranging from the green color of envy to the blue color of greed. These men have more than the red color of their blood in common. They share the color of their skin as well. Now it's official. Blacks are voting for Barack Obama just because he's black. If that's reason enough for you to kick your values to the curb. Then go right ahead. If Jesus came tonight. I would stand boldly by my vote. This election is going to separate the followers from the leaders. Blacks better be very careful. We don't want to play the numbers game. "If you live by the sword, you die by the sword."

Blow Up In His Face

If America is smart this episode will backfire in Barack Obama's face. Joe Wulzerbacher the plumber represents far more American citizens than those who earn more than $250,000 a year. The company you work for probably does though. Most people will never actually be their own boss. But that doesn't stop you from dreaming of a bigger payday. Name one craftsman that doesn't want that contract that That's all Joe the Plumber did. And the question still remains. If 98% of small businesses earn less than that, what is considered a small business? We know the average barber and beautician don't make that much a year, but the shop itself does. Small auto shops and most lawn services don't, but get a couple of lucrative contracts and it's a different story. As it turns out, those subtle tax hikes no one wants to talk about affect more people than you think.

Joe Wulzerbacher did his first live T.V. interview on the "Mike Huckabee" show tonight. I know most voters won't see the show, but that's unfortunate. It was informative and dealt specifically with the issue itself. Unlike when Barack Obama was asked the same question, on the show tonight it was finally fully answered. If indeed Joe Wulzerbacher buys the business he works for. His taxes will be higher than his boss's are now.

I can't help but think about the movie titled "The Nerds." In one of the more memorable scenes in the movie. One of the biggest bullies in the movie turned out to be one of the Nerds himself. He suddenly realized he was more like them, than those who were using him to terrorize them. The popular people made their move too soon. They turned their backs on him soon as zzit was convenient. Barack Obama has the ability to temporarily make his followers think above their pay grade. These dats everybody is a economist or a thelogian. Though they filed bankruptcy and hadn't been to church in years. Just like the people in the movie. Mocking everyday people might blow up in his face.

Levi Stubbs (1936-2008) Four Tops

Forgive But Don't Forget

I'm all for second chances, but let's recognize them for exactly what they are. Making the best of a bad situation. Andre Allen would have had a brighter future without this episode. Let's not give the impression that it's okay to do the wrong thing. That it will be just a temporary delay. Even if it has a happy ending. Every cloud doesn't have a silver lining. For whatever reason you've lost the first opportunity you were afforded. You have yet another chance to redeem yourself. Andre Allen has a chance to play basketball again and still get his college degree. Which I believe will take him a lot farther than his accomplishments on the basketball court. He wasn't the caliber of a Derrick Rose. Except for getting the chance to play in a once in a lifetime game for most college basketball players. He has landed on his feet.

This young man is prone to making untimely mistakes. I believe him not having a father in the home as a child played a role. This isn't the first time he has made negative press. Last time he was arrested for soliciting prostitutes. He has been highlighted for trouble more than he has good games. Though he has never been a marquis player. He has always been a crowd favorite. The general consensus among the fans is they are wishing him well. That's the problem though. I'm not so sure this young man has learned his lesson yet. If history repeats itself. The fans might be a little too forgiving.

ACORN

Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now

Before this election is over the community organization ACORN will prove to be pivotal in who is the next President of the United States. Not just the fact that they have brought into question over a million fraudulent registrations. Those people employed and associated with them have the distinction of being under a microscope. Whites and undecided voters are watching them. Both of which are needed for the Democrats, who they largely support to win.

More Than Just A Vision

The Hickory Ridge Mall has a new suitor in the form of World Overcomers Christian Church. The city has backed away from it's earlier proposal to buy the mall and use it as a multipurpose facility for the second single largest residential area in Tennessee. Whether they acquired the mall or not. That's something this city still has to build eventually. We don't have the needed facilities to accommodate the number of citizens we have. I wasn't against the city's idea, but this one is better. This is conservative principles at their finest. They are reinvesting in the community that supports them. With the blessings of God this idea is going to work.

Think about what we have here. A proposed venue that sells clothes, food and has a large independent facility for entertainment. Notice they haven't mentioned holding church services there. Which allows for some non-church events. That may stop some of that Desoto county hemorrhaging we're experiencing now. Considering Blacks make up 70% of the city's population and 98% of that 13,000 member congregation. Needless to say they'll have far reaching arms of influence. The black Christian community alone can pull this off. If jealousy doesn't rear it's ugly head. Causing other pastors and churches not to support the venture because it isn't them. An endeavor of this size requires repeat customers. You can't go one time and claim you've given your support. This isn't the first time this idea has been on the table. Just the first time it was more than just a vision.

Can You Look

These are some of the most graphic pictures of abortion I have ever seen. For those who say it's up to the individual to decide whether they want to do it or not. They really don't know what they are saying. I'm not sure if most of those who partipate in the procedure really understand. I always knew it was wrong just not to this degree. Now more so than ever before. I have a strong opinion. This is murder !!!

Take a more revealing look if you have the stomach. I didn't, it made me sick.

http://www.bibleprobe.com/abortion.htm

http://www.pcuc.org/what_does_abortion_do_to_the_baby.htm

http://www.fumento.com/law/abortion.html

Where Does Life Begin

I was stomped when someone asked me earlier today. " Where in the bible does it say abortion is a sin?' It doesn't say that exactly. Just like the words homosexuality and crack aren't in their either. You won't find those exact words written. You would think someone of average intelligence would figure it out. Abortion, crack, and same-sex marriage are all twenty first century issues. Though nothing is new under the sun. These are still derivatives of the same old thing. During Jesus times he wasn't walking around trying to convert pregnant, drug addicted, lesbians. But he did deal with those given over to sexual immorality and those drunk off new wine of that day.

My personal opinion is life begins at conception. Conception is when the sperm fertilizes the egg. For those who think it starts when the baby opens it's eyes. God doesn't see it that way. He knew you while you were yet in the womb. The best form of contraception is abstinence. But the flesh is weak. That just isn't a sacrifice most people are willing to make. With all the means we have to not allow the egg and sperm to meet. There is no excuse for what has become common practice in today's society.

One Man's Wife

I had an opportunity to hear Bishop Vashti Murphy McKenzie of the West Jurisdictional A.M.E. church speak this morning. I was in agreement with everything she said until she tried to justify her having the title of Bishop. She is both an eloquent speaker and a physically attractive woman. Both qualities that I'm sure played a major role in her elevation. Even though her appointment might be historical, it's not scriptural. She named almost every woman in the bible but still didn't name a female Bishop. Because there isn't one.

She is a prime example of what's happening in the church today. They're doing what they want in spite of what the word of God says. When it's covenient they want to exclude the writings of Paul. But you can't pick and choose as you see fit.
2 Timothy 3:16 (Whole Chapter) All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: A woman called in and asked her how could she be a Bishop? In her drawn out response she still didn't answer the question. Instead she used it as a plug for her latest book. If you can't find it in the bible it's just someones opinion. In her explanation she said she was one man's wife. That's not what the scripture said though.
1 Timothy 3:2 (Whole Chapter) A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; Big difference there.

Obama Vs. McCain Round II

A lot is at stake here. Somehow the Republicans are being blamed for the bailout. Even though the Democrats were in charge. The election could be won or lost tonight. Who do you think will win?

Doggone She Won

The American people are so fickled. It's ironic the country would be in the midst of making up their mind about a woman. They change their minds like they change their clothes. All it takes is one slip of the tongue and you're looking at a different race. Just like a woman looking in the mirror changes her mind about her dress. As quick as one rises in the polls. They can fall just as fast. A couple of weeks ago she was the best thing since sliced bread. After a couple of bad interviews. Some of the party's excitement was quelled. Democrats and some members of the media were writing the McCain/Palin tickets obituary. Needless to say that was premature.

Joe Biden puts you in the mind of a slick car salesman. Even if he tells you most of the truth he's still trying to make a commission. His job is to sell you for as much as he can. They kill you with a few dollars here and a few dollars there. They never accept the first offer. At least not at first. If you are not a prepared shopper. Before you know it you can barely make the payment. You went in to buy a Camry and ended up with a Corolla. The devastation is hidden in the details. When he said they would push to allow bankruptcy judges to reduce principal amounts. That promise alone turned me off. That sounds an awful lot like the redistribution of wealth I've been hearing about. He was strong on foreign relations, but I thought the main issue was the economy. When John McCain outshined Barack Obama in the same area. The Democrats accused him of being weak on the economy. If America was his mark; he didn't make the sale.

I always knew Sarah Palin would live up to her name, " Pitbull in a dress." Lately some people had begun to wonder if she had the stuff to pull it off. Sarah Palin rose above all expectations of most people after the Katie Couric interview last week. Makes you wonder if this whole thing was planned. I keep hearing expectations were lowered for this debate. I think Joe Biden made the crippling mistake of underestimating his opponent. He thought he could throw her off with his outright lies. After a few questions it was obvious that wouldn't work. But it was too late by then. His frustration became evident to the point of him sighing out loud. She remained calm and kept a smile on her face. He sounded uptight and that toothy grin disappeared. By the time he really got rolling the debate was over. Sarah Palin had scored a knockout.

I have to mention Gwen Iffel because she played a major role in the election. Had not Sarah Palin been on top of her game, she could have made it tougher. Like when she tried to trip her up on the same-sex marriage issue. She made it like a handicap match in spite of her supposedly being neutral. I noticed she tried to ask them different questions, in no particular order. Inconspicuously controlling the debates momentum. A couple of times she cut Palin off, and seemed to give Biden the last word most often. Overall I agree with Tom Brokaw."The Democrats are probably glad there is only one Vice presidential debate"
- Tom Brokaw

Martin Luther King Jr.

The truth of the matter is blacks became Democrats as a result of a backroom deal between John Fitzgerald Kennedy and Martin Luther King Sr. to free his incarcerated son. The young activist Martin Luther King Jr. was locked away in jail somewhere and they couldn't get him out. They really didn't even know exactly where he was being held. They just know he was being held somewhere in the South. In exchange for the younger King's freedom. His father agreed to deliver the black vote to Democrats in the 1960 election to secure his son's release. Martin Luther King Jr. was released and JFK was elected President. The rest is history.

Don't Fight it, Invite It

It turns out Gwen Iffel has a vested interest in Barack Obama winning the election. She has written a book (The Age Of Obama) that is scheduled to be released on the day of the Presidential Inauguration. As it turns out she has already predicted Barack Obama is going to win. That would make it sort of hard to appear unbiased. It wouldn't have much impact if Barack Obama didn't win.

I like something Sarah Palin said to a reporter earlier in the week. When it comes to negative press and antagonistic interviewers. "We don't fight it, we invite it." To do well in this debate would be a huge feather in her cap. I think she will go in and mop the floor with both of them.
